We have been working on identifying and knowing the value of pennies, and counting out pennies to buy items, so now we are making it fun! This week every student got a piggy bank, and will earn pennies to buy desired items and activities. Pennies can be earned by doing homework every night, following directions, good behavior, or any exceptional behavior! Students can collect pennies to buy desired items and activities from the reward board.
Students can also lose their pennies for not following directions or breaking classroom rules.
Please practice counting pennies at home with your student to reinforce this skill.

We are beginning to really start concentrating on learning our sight words. We are going to focus on just a couple of words a week. These words will be on a ring in your child’s folder for you to practice at home. Please practice these words every night!
Please leave the ring in your child’s notebook, so that we may add the new words each week.
So far, we are working on the following words:

This week in Fundations we are working on the letters “v” and “w”. Please be sure to begin practicing these letter sounds and letter formations for homework.
We are also working on identifying the beginning and ending sounds of words. Practice this at home with your child. Choose a simple 3 or 4 letter words (cup, hat, dog, etc…) Emphasize the either the beginning or ending sound and ask yor child to identify the sound.
This will probably be difficult at first, but with practice your student will soon be able to do this easily!
