Parents of 8th Graders interested in the Disney Trip:

Down payment, which reserves a spot on the trip, is due no later than this Friday, 12/1.

Disney Fundraiser Orders and Money (One check per student, please!) is due MONDAY, 12/4.

Actually, it began a few days ago – 8 class days left until the CONCERT!!!!

With that in mind, there are a good many things coming your way, and soon!

7th/8th Grades: Practice Records are due MONDAY 12/4

6th Grade: Snakes are due FRIDAY 12/8

ALL Grades:

Playing test this Friday, 12/1!

8th: Christmas Concerto

7th: Violins/Viola/Bass: Cello Rondo
Cello: Still, Still, Still

6th: Dreidel

After School Rehearsals for All Grades
ALL: Monday, December 11th, 4:30-6:00.
This will be a ‘dress’ rehearsal. We will play everything just as it will appear the next night on the actual concert. It is vital that all attend – we will go over concert etiquitte and logistics during the rehearsal.
If you have any concerns about what you are planning to wear, please bring your planned outfit to this rehearsal if I have not already addressed your questions.

Concert dress is NOT required at the dress rehearsal. If you don’t have any concerns, keep your outfit clean at home!

For questions about what to wear, please see your handbook (a copy of which can also be found under the post "Handy Documents" in September).

8th Grade: Tuesday, 12/5 4:30-5:30

7th Grade: Thursday, 12/7 4:30-5:30

6th Grade: Friday, 12/8 4:30-5:30

For many students this will be the only time to hear the "full" sound of their grade before the dress – which sounds a lot different than what they are used to in the classroom. I don’t want anybody to be surprised during the concert! We will also address seating arrangments at these rehearsals.

The concert will be at the McClure Auditorium on Tuesday, 12/12 at 7pm. Students should begin arriving at 6:00 and show NO LATER than 6:30 so they can get tuned and warmed up before their big debut!

Good luck to you all! We still have a little bit of work to do, but we will make it and it will sound beautiful!

Sorry for the long delay in posting everybody. My mother is finally out of Emory (again) and doing much better, so perhaps life can return more to normal.

For all grades:

If your signed syllabus has not been returned yet, you’re late!! Please do so right away.

8th Grade:

- Disney Trip meeting this THURSDAY, November 16th at 7:00PM. It is vitally important someone is there to hear information about the trip AND fundraising for the trip!

- You are sounding wonderful on Sleigh Ride; keep working on those half position sections and keeping the tempo steady.

7th Grade:

- Playing Test over sections of Still, Still, Still are Monday! You know what part – good luck practicing!

6th Grade:

- You guys are sounding fabulous! Keep up the good work with your left hand: intonation and formation, and right hands. Parents: we are using the frog hold now, so please do not let your student get away with holding the bow in the middle of the stick.

- Playing test Monday over Dreidel. We’ve played this song before, so it should be a piece of cake, right? Good luck practicing!!
