Hermanson's Orchestral Wonders

What a ride we’ve had this year! Thanks to everyone for their support and hard work – parents, students, and the faculty here at McClure. Our Spring Concerts have shown the growth and effort that all of us have put in this year – congratulations to everyone for a fabulous job.

A notice to all parents: iParent will be disabled 7:00 am, Monday May 21 until 7:00 am Monday June 4, 2007
This allows us to enter grades without delay so report cards can all be ready as early as possible. Thanks for working with us.

Students:
The FINAL practice record of the year is due on Monday. For some of you, this is your last chance to have a grade in the “Homework” section – make use of this!

7th and 8th: Last day for Instruments is MONDAY, May 21st

6th: Last Day for Instruments is TUESDAY, May 22nd.

All school-owned instruments need to be turned in NO LATER than Wednesday, May 23rd.

I will be sending home a list of all the area strings teachers I know about next week – I HIGHLY encourage private lessons this summer and beyond – the progress you can attain with individual attention on a regular basis will astound you! This list is also attached below for your convinence.

There are also many summer music workshops and camps available in the area; please make use of this wonderful resource to have fun making music with peers outside of the school environment. If you have any questions, please e-mail me. I will still be checking e-mail during the summer (though it may take a little longer for me to get back to you, so have patience ).

One more to go!

The McClure Eighth Grade Spring Concert date has been changed!! The new date is Tuesday, May 15th. The location remains Kennesaw Mountian High School.

Students should report to the KMHS BAND room at 6:15. The concert will begin promptly at 7:00. We will be second on the program, with Pine Mtn Middle’s 8th grade orchestra playing before us.

Kennesaw Mtn. is putting on a great concert, and unless prior notice has been given to Ms. Robertson, all students will be expected to display good concert etiquette and stay for the entire performance. A fellow McClure orchestra member (Maggie Chafee)’s older brother will be playing a concerto, which is a antastic opportunity to see how far one can go at such a young age.

Kennesaw Mtn. High School is located east of Stilesboro on Kennesaw Due West Road.

The sixth and seventh grade concert is tomorrow at 7pm! Below is the information sheet which should answer any questions you might have.

Some quick info:
Dress: 6th grade – jeans (or denim capris, no board shorts), white shirt, dark shoes (nice sandels ok)

7th grade – jeans (or denim capris, no board shorts), dark blue shirt, dark shoes (nice sandels ok)

Shirts should be free of obvious writing/designs.

6th reporting time: 5:45, orchestra room

7th Non-field trip reporting time: 6:00, orchestra room

Congratulations, everyone – we’re come a long way and have grown so much as an ensemble. I’m proud of everything we have accomplished this year.
