4th Nine Weeks and Disney Info
Welcome to the beginning of the end of the school year! Just because this is the last grading period doesn’t mean we don’t have a lot to do and a lot to cover.
8th Grade Orchestra Members, please see an important announcement below!
A brief update for all classes follow:
6th General Music
Welcome to Music! We are starting the nine weeks with a unit on rhythm and drumming. We will learn how to read, write and perform various rhythms. At the end of this unit, we will create an "audition" piece for the hit rhythm group "STOMP" and perform it for the class.
8th General Music
You have spoken, and our topics this nine weeks will cover African drumming and rhythm, creating an instrument and producing a music video – from the music to the video to promoting your product.
6th Orchestra
Jamboree is this week! All participants are requested to attend an after school rehearsal on Tuesday until 5:30.
Jamboree will occur this THURSDAY. All students need to bring their Orchestra shirt or white polo and a wire folding stand to school with them. We will leave from McClure at 5pm and head to Harrison HS to rehearse with 240 other students! Can you imagine that many people playing in one place? This will be wonderful!
Our concert is Thursday, 3/27 at 7:30 in the Harrison HS Gym. Parents and friends are encouraged to attend! Please allow plenty of time for parking so you don’t miss a minute of our performance.
7th Orchestra
We are refining our skills this month so we can play even more demanding pieces for our Spring concert. Third position, new keys and learning to compose are just a few things to look forward to in the near future!
8th Orchestra
This Friday we leave for Disney! There is a MANDATORY parents meeting Monday, 3/24 at 7pm in the Theater for all students participating. All students need to have a responsible party attend to receive important information before we head off to Florida.
Students need to bring 1 bag and 1 carry-on to school Friday morning. We will leave luggage in the theater until we depart at 2pm that afternoon.
We will return about 6pm Tuesday evening. We will call parents when we are about an hour out of Kennesaw to let you know a more precise arrival times.
This will be a wonderful trip, and I hope everyone is ready for an exciting and educational experience!
