About Ms. Hermanson

Welcome to the McClure Orchestra’s weblog!

My name is Alice Ann Hermanson, and I am the Orchestra Director at McClure Middle School. A few things about me:

I began playing cello in the 6th grade – just like you! – in a public school in Gwinnett county. After graduating from high school, I attending the University of South Carolina and received my Bachelors in Music Education studying under Dr. Robert Jesselson, cello, and Dr. Gail Barnes, String Methods and director of the String Project.

I started the orchestra program here when McClure opened in 2006 in my first year of teaching. That same year, I began playing cello with the Cobb Symphony Orchestra and have just married a wonderful man I met through the Symphony.

I love contra dancing and make it a point to attend the Lake Eden Arts Festival every year. Between school, the symphony and contra, my life is quite full!

For those students are going to be coming to McClure for the first time in the fall, I cannot wait to meet you and your families. Orchestra becomes your family while you are at school, and I love adding new people to our mix.

The Murray Arts Center is located at 2250 Stilesboro Road, at the corner of Stilesboro and Barrett Parkway. It is on the same campus at the Mt. Paran Christan School. If you need further information, call the Cobb Symphony at (770) 429-7015.

Our field trip had to be canceled tonight due to the weather, but I have an offer to get a ticket to a performance instead of the rehearsal for those who were planning on attending!
