Today we applied our Transformation knowledge and really thought outside the box. We did a Transformation Cube activity. If your group didn’t quite finish today, you will have time tomorrow to do so.

Your homework tonight is to complete th eTransformation homework. Remember, you don’t have to do them all, just do 3 from section 1, 2 from section 2, and 1 from section 1.

I think you all have got the hang of rotating! Today we created a graphic organizer for our Transformations. We will add to it when we learn dilations next week. Keep it handy to refer to often.

In class today we also worked on Rotating shapes. If you didn’t finish yours, please do so over the weekend. Make sure you label your points.

I hope everyone enjoyed seeing their mathematical coat of arms on the graphing calculators yesterday. They were really impressive.

Today we learned the rules for rotations around the origin. Your homework is to complete 10:9 Study Guide and Practice.

We did a little reflecting today in math class. In fact you all created your very own Mathematical Coat of Arms using reflections across the x and y axis. Your homework tonight is to finish them up and have them looking great by tomorrow. Don’t forget to color them:)

Today we started learning about our 2nd transformation: Reflections. 3rd, 6th & 7th periods learned how to reflect a shape over the x and y axis. 5th period also learned how to reflect over y = x and y = -x as well as any horizontal or vertical line.

Homework tonight for all classes is to complete 10-8 Study Guide and Practice.

Gotta run…

Well we made it to Friday! :) This week seemed to go by very fast and in a blur. This weekend I’m going to be working hard to get the pinnacle updated. I will finish getting all of the test graded so you can look at those on Monday. I did get a chance to look at the pre-test you guys took over M7G2. You guys did a great job of keeping me laughing at your funny answers. Actually I learned a lot about your prior knowledge of Transformations. Thanks for the humor.

For this weekend: You need to finish up your Coordinate Translations activity. 3rd period: please do your homework. We don’t want a repeat of today. The rest of the classes did a great job.

See you Monday! Stay dry this weekend.

Wednesday, Jan. 27th (late)

Good morning everyone. I forgot to post to the blog yesterday before I left, so I thought I would do it now – just for the record. To be honest, it didn’t seem as though we got a lot done yesterday. We did however, go over the two-step review homework from Tuesday (pg. 750) and we took a pre-test over our next unit M7G2. We also spent some time talking about what the Unit is going to be about (Transformations) and what students will need to be able to do by the end of it.

Our new Unit is all about the Transformations of 2D figures on a coordinate plane. We will talk about translations (slides), reflections (flips), rotations (turns) and dilations (changing the size, but not the shape).

So – No homework on Wednesday night! Thursday we will start right in on translations and you should have a little work to practice this skill at home.

Moving right along… We are officially finished with our direct and indirect unit now. Our second part of the Unit test was taken today and I’ll get part A & B averaged together and in pinnacle as soon as I can.

Your homework this evening is a review of solving equations: Textbook pg. 750 (1 – 18)

Tomorrow we will start our new Unit on Transformations. We will learn how to rotate, translate, reflect and dilate 2D figures on the coordinate plane. It shall be a lot of fun. See you then!!!!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Today you recieved a study guide for our test next week. Due to conference week schedule, we will be splitting up our unit test into two parts. Part A will be on Monday and Part B will be on Tuesday.

Use the study guide you were given today in class to help you get ready. You need to have it completed by tomorrow so we can go over it in class and answer any last minute questions you have.

Hey guys,

We are nearing the end of our study of variation. Our test will be this Friday! Everything I have been reminding you on a daily basis is what will be on the test. There will be questions on their very similar to those on your Combined practice sheet. I will go over the types of problems that will be on the test again tomorrow if you are still unsure.

3rd, 6th & 7th periods: Your homework is to complete pg. 315 (1-5) in the textbook and do # 1 – 17 on your combined practice sheet. We will do the rest in class tomorrow.

5th period: You learned a little about slope today. Your assignment is to complet pg. 280 – 282 (1 – 30) in the textbook.
