Holiday Party!
Don’t forget to bring your $5 for the party!
Don’t forget to bring your $5 for the party!
Two test down and two more to go. We will survive!!! Our 2nd benchmark test is next Tuesday and our Final Unit test (M7G1) for the 9 weeks is next Thursday.
Here are a list of concepts that will be on the 2nd benchmark test.
~ Absolute Value
~ Rational number computation (including integers)
~ Properties of rational numbers (communtative, associative, distributive)
~ The 7 basic geometric constructions (That’s what we are working on right now)
~ One and two step equations with integers
~ Simplifying algebraic expressions
~ Translating verbal phrases into algebraic expressions
Here are a list of concepts that you need to know for the M7G1 test.
~ What two figures basic constructions are based on
~ What two tools are used to make basic constructions
~ Be able to perform all 7 basic constructions acurately with a compass and a straight edge.
~ Know the symbols for and be able to define: congruent, perpendicular, parallel and similar
~ Be able to identify congruent triangles from each of the constructions
~ Given a partially completed construction, be able to describe the next step in that construction
~ Be able to identify congruent parts in each of the constructions
~ Know the proper way to name an angle, line, ray, line segment
Your construction practice pages are being entered into pinnacle as they are graded. If you received yours back or have not turned them in, you need to do so no later than next Wednesday or they will become a “zero” in the grade book. Remember that you should see a 100 on each side of the three sheets given out in class.
We finished learning all 7 of our basic geometric constructions today. Now it is time to get good at them. We will continue to practice them over the next several days and test on them next Thursday.
Our first benchmark test is Thursday. This test will be on the computer in the PC lab. It will cover the following topics:
~ Box-n-whisker plots
~ Measures of Central Tendency (mean, median & mode)
~ Measures of Variation (range & IQR)
~ Scatter plots
~ One and two equations (no integers)
USAtestprep and skillstutor are excellent recourses to use to review for this test. We will spend tomorrow during class reviewing as well.
The test are in and they will be grade and in the grade book over the weekend. I have my own homework:)
We are now on to our final unit of the nine weeks – M7G1: Geometric Constructions.
3rd, 5th & 6th periods will receive an instruction packet today that you can use as a guide to practice them at home as well as in class. DON”T loose it. We will be learning 7 basic constructions in this unit, so you will need to bring your compass to class everyday for the next two weeks. Our test for this unit will be on Thursday, 12/17.
We also have 2 important Benchmark test coming up. These test will cover material learned throughout the 1st and 2nd nine weeks this year. We have been doing review problems each day for warm ups to get ready for these test. The first one will be Thursday 12/10 and the second one will be Tuesday 12/15.
On another note: Our HOLIDAY PARTY is coming up very soon on Friday 12/18. We will be collecting $5 from each student to cover the cost of the party (sub sandwiches, drinks, chips and sweets). Money will be collected during homeroom next Thursday through the following Tuesday. PARENTS: We need help collecting this money each morning and setting up for the party on Friday (12/18). If you would like to come and help out, please send me an e-mail. Thanks so much!!! It’s going to be a great time and a fun way to send everyone home for the holidays.
I think we are all just about ready for our test now. Tomorrow 3rd, 6th & 7th periods will take their M7A2 test. Fifth period took their test today and will begin Geometric constructions tomorrow. You need to make sure you have your compass with you everyday in class now. You will be stuck if you don’t come with one.
3rd, 6th & 7th period students may come in tomorrow morning to work some last minute problems. I’ll come down to pick students up at 8:15 in the morning. You don’t need a pass.
