Class Song Competition

Posted by: hbm12083 | January 29, 2010 | No Comment |

As a culminating activity to technical writing, I am having a competition to see who can write the best song as a class anthem.  The students are going to a website that has wordless music files, freeplaymusic.com (Link located in my Blogroll at the right side of my blog), and they are trying to find music to which they can write words.  Students are going to need to save their sound bytes onto a flash drive so that they can bring the music in to class on Monday.

They then need to write lyrics to the music they have chosen.  These lyrics need to be school appropriate, and talk about who we are and what we do in their personal Language Arts class.  I am hoping that the songs will encapsulate who we are as a class.

After hearing all the songs on Monday, 2/1/10, we will choose the best song, as a class, and and that group will record their song to be placed on my blog.

This activity is not going to be graded, and students do not need to participate if they do not want to.  This is solely for bragging rights, and for the students to have fun, while working on their technical writing skills.
