10 12 2008

We reviewed for Friday’s test today. If you require a copy of notes and did not pick them up, please see me in homeroom tomorrow for your copy.

We also checked wkbk pg 42. Students added notes, they may have missed, in their graphic organizer. Remember that this page is very helpful if you choose to write Friday’s essay test question on the EU.

Tonight’s homework is to work on the two essay questions as you practice for Friday’s test. Also, review notes taken today.

Chapter 13 test is Friday.

Today, students were introduced to new center activities using primary source documents/articles, in which they will learn more about Germany’s government.

Missing Blog and the Mystery of Anastasia

5 12 2008

Sorry, but several of our BLOGs did not post yesterday. Tech problem. So I’m posting the short version from yesterday with today.

We worked on Chap 13 Lesson 1 yesterday. All students completed
pg 40 Section A graphic organizer in class.

Home work was to complete the comparison activity for Section B.
(I posted those grades today.)

I have posted all grades at this point except for the research book. I hope to have graded all of those by Monday, at which time I’ll post those grades. Be sure to check i-parent!!

Today, students enjoyed debating the mystery of Anastasia, after we finished viewing the video. This activity supported our studies of events in Europe/Russia during the 19th-20th century. Students viewed primary/secondary sources as they collected evidence of the mystery surrounding this event.

We will finish with our European studies by Christmas break and begin our studies of Latin America when we come back in January. Begin to gather any materials/info to share as we embark on our new journey throughout the world ( :

HOMEROOM: Maverick Miracle Tree

3 12 2008

Right before Thanksgiving, several students in our homeroom volunteered to donate gifts for a thirteen year old girl. Each of these students chose a paper cut out of a green Christmas tree with an item she was wishing for (size included when necessary) written on the front.

Please check for notes written in agendas to see if your student selected a tree tag. I gave out about 10 tags, but have only received 1 item at this time ) :

If you have returned the item and tag to the Guidance Office already, please jot me a note in your child’s agenda or email me, so I may check their name off. Thanks!!

Remember that all gifts are due this Friday, December 5.

Thanks for all your help in making the holidays a special time for this special young lady!!

The Maverick Miracle Tree is a Community Outreach project that directly helps provide families right here at McClure gifts for the holiday season. Starting November 17th, students chose an item or items to donate to these kids. Homeroom teachers have the list of items requested. Please discuss this with your child as we count on your donations, once they have been chosen. Please have students send in their unwrapped gift, with the tree tag attached, to the guidance office, no later than December 5th. If you have any questions, please contact Deborah Hill at 770-422-0858 or Susan Wilson in the guidance office.

Chapter 12 Test

2 12 2008

We reviewed for the Chapter 12 test today.

Homework is to study for tomorrow’s open book/open note Chapter 12 test.

There will be one essay question:

In what ways were Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin similar?
Think about:

  • how Hitler came to power
  • form of government in Germany & the Soviet Union
  • how Stalin ruled the Soviet Union

We also viewed a video about the mystery of Anastasia. Students collected 10 pieces of evidence that she survived and 10 pieces of evidence that she did not survive. We will debate this after the test tomorrow,
