Country/Capital/Physical Features Tests

30 01 2009

Today, I gave students a copy of the political and physical maps I'll use for next weeks tests.  These become another resource to use as they study for their map tests. Just remember not to put #s or circles on the Physical Features map; we'll do this together in class on Monday. You may make your own copy and do whatever you wish to!!

Competition/game day will be on Monday as we continue working with physical features.

Study your maps, websites, song, etc. for next week's tests!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Listen to the weather.. on Monday; I heard there may be snow!!

Physical Features Study Guide/Counseling Lesson

28 01 2009

Mrs. Blank came in today to do our counseling lesson. Students viewed a video "Getting it Together." They took a study skills survey and played a Bingo Game of how to reduce stress.

I gave students a copy of the Latin American physical features study guide. (We may add a couple more features by Friday.) You may also download it from yesterday's Blog.

Study for your Wed & Thurs. map tests.

Also, links to two really good map game/practice sites were posted on yesterday's Blog for those who are new to our school. Students who used them for the European map tests did really well.

I conferenced with student whose parents are coming in today, be sure to check agendas for the correct time.

I've really enjoyed meeting with parents as we work together to help our students be successful in their Middle School experience.

Upcoming Tests & Geo Centers

27 01 2009

Here is the study guide for the Latin American physical features test. Remember that the map will be numbered and you will write the correct number beside the matching feature.

Students continued to work on Geo Centers dealing with population density of Latin America. They analyzed and evaluated many different types of graphs, then wrote about their deductions for the three regions of Latin America. They also read about the Andes mountains and read a letter giving insight into the life of someone living in the Andes. They are working on filling out an informational compare/contrast of the land and people of the Andes.

Study for next week's tests on the capitals, countries, and physical features of Latin America. Don't forget to use these websites:

www.ilike2learn.com

I conferenced with each student whose conference was today, so they could give input into what they are doing well, where they need help, and how parents/teacher/student can work together to help them be more successful!! Conferences with parents are going really well as we share this info with each other. Parents, don't forget to check your child's agenda to see what day and time your conference is.
