Today, students discussed and took Cornell Notes as we viewed a video stream of the history, government, and diverse culture of Canada. We also talked about centers, which students will complete on Wednesday & Thursday.
We reviewed the 7 regions of Canada and completed a note page of facts reviewing its land, geography, and natural resources.
Homework is to study for tomorrow's quiz on the 7 regions and to continue reviewing Friday's map quiz from the study guide given on Monday. Sheppard Software is a good source to use for this.
Friday's test will cover any notes, handouts, and chapter 5 of the textbook along with the provinces/territory map.

Students took the Latin American Post Test today. They may remove any materials relating to Latin America from their binders, except for maps, as we have now begun Canadian studies.
As students finished the Latin America test today, they quickly read Chap 3 and wrote vocab. Chap 3 is a brief overview and comparison of the geography of Canada to that of the US.
We did not work on maps today, but will begin them when we continue with Canada through center/stations next week. Along with the centers/stations we wil skim Chap 4 on Monday, which is a quick background review of government and economic terms of the US. Then we will move on to Chap 5, which is all about the government, economy, and culture of Canada today.
Homework is to go on Sheppards Software and practice with the physical and political maps of Latin America.
Our Canada test will be on Friday, April 3.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR ODYSSEY OF THE MIND TEAMS!!
Diane Williams and I are soooo excited about our three Odyssey of the Mind teams. All three teams won in Regional Competition and will be going to State Competition in Columbus, GA!!
We can never give enough thanks to our amazing coaches who dedicated hours of time at school and in their garages working with our teams; giving up their evenings and weekends.
Also, to all our amazing team members who spent many hours solving their OotM problem, scavenging for used "stuff", writing scripts, making backdrops and costumes, practicing their parts, and working through any differences in personalities!! You gals and guys rock!!
Last, but not least, we need to thank our parents who diligently saw that you all were at and on time for meetings & competition and for not giving assistance, even when it was so hard not to speak out!! Also, for bringing in snacks, volunteering at competitions, baking cakes, and setting up hotel rooms for us.
A special thanks goes out to parents and coaches who gave up Saturdays to go to training!!
Best of luck!!! Can't wait til we are in Columbus!
Mrs. Pakbaz & Mrs. Williams
