Entrepreneur Maps and Business Plans

30 04 2009

Yeh!! Most all businesses have completed and posted their raw material/service needs maps. Many have begun writing out their business plan. We have learned so much about setting up a business—finding suppliers/vendors, location, cost, etc.

Homework is to work on your group assigned job from the Business Plan, which is due by the end of class tomorrow!! Also, to study for any tests you have to make up tomorrow due to previous absences.

DON’T FORGET TO RETURN YOUR HOME ISSUED SS TEXTBOOK TOMORROW!!

Entrepreneur Project Continued

29 04 2009

Students continued working on their business. Each group shared their ideas and research!! I’m impressed with all the creative ideas and continued enthusiasm!

I shared a model of a “business plan” with students today, then they continued to add to the progression chart of the origin of raw materials &/or “service needs” to their final business. We will continue focusing on capital goods, human capital, targeted consumers, and pricing tomorrow as students develop their business idea more.

Next week we will work on advertising through different media.

Homework is to bring in research/ideas as assigned per group. Remember that you can be “fired” by your board members if you do not uphold your end of your business endeavor!!

Entrepreneur Project

28 04 2009

Students shared their business ideas with group members today and chose one idea, which will be developed as their business. Everyone began charting the Natural Resources (Raw Materials), Capital Goods, Human Capital, and Targeted Consumers as they followed the trail of their product or services to the point of origin.

I am so excited with the level of enthusiasm each group is putting into this project!! As a result, we have unanimously decided to continue this project through next week!!

Homework is to research your individual assignments, as decided upon by your group. Continue to add to your chart.

End of CRCT/Entrepreneur Activity

27 04 2009

Students completed the final section of the CRCT (Social Studies) today!!
Breakfast tomorrow for my homeroom!! Congratulations to everyone for being here every day and for doing your very best!!

I introduced our Entrepreneur Project to my ACSS students; homework is to choose a business idea and the country it relates to. Check the CIA Factbook for export, economic, and natural resource ideas. Tomorrow, students will share their business ideas with their groups and decide on one idea to follow through with.

Near the end of each class period (after CRCT testing), students enjoyed a break by going outside to the busport and participating in chalk map activities with all other 6th grade social studies classes!!

I’m excited about meeting with our upcoming 5th graders and their parents tomorrow night!!
