Welcome Back!!!!
We have 3 weeks before the end of this 9 weeks and the end of our European Unit.
Today students focused on how feelings of nationalism led to conflicts that changed the map of Europe. They are looking closely at how the differences among Europeans cause conflict and bring about change.
As students continue studying about WWI and WWII, they are working on a chart showing the causes and effect of these two wars and the growth of the Soviet Union. This chart is due on Thursday.
Students also worked on Chap. 12 wkbk pg 38. It is homework to finish.
There will be a test on WWI & WWII & the collapse of the Soviet Union this Friday, Dec. 4.

Students continued working on their presentations. I helped some find a current event.
Remember to use news sites such as CNN, FOX, and/or BBC. We also found that if we Google searched and typed in the words –current news article in France– (replace France with the name of your country) we had better choices of articles to choose from.
I continued conferencing with each student and added points to the note section of their research rubric. Make sure you corrected/revised your notes, using my feedback on how to improve them!!
Homework is to continue to work on your presentations!! Also to show your parent/s the Gifted or High Achiever Continuation Criteria form so they can sign it and return it to me ASAP if you have not done so already.
Monday presenters, make sure you come in during homeroom to check that everything works with my computer, if you are using a PowerPoint.
One more week til Thanksgiving break!!

Today, in honor of Veteran’s Day, we had an amazing presentation by Lieutenant Muse, a parent of one of our 7th grade students. Students learned about the training, travels, duties, and importance of our military vets who have or are serving our country.
Remember that all research notes are due tomorrow in their final revised stage. Staple them in the order of Introduction, Geography, History, Environmental, Political, and Economic. If you have not found a current news event yet, we will work on it in class tomorrow.
Homework is to finish revising your notes, make sure they are neatly typed or handwritten, and work on your presentation.

Tests and Ball grades have been posted.
I will give out Chapter 11 tests on Thursday and go over them with students at that time. I’m still waiting for a couple students to make up their test.
I still need to finish conferencing with a few students about Introduction, Geography, History, and Environmental notes. I hope to post these grades as “homework” grades by tomorrow. Remember to revise these before you turn in your final versions on Thursday, so you can receive your full 10 pts in each category on the Research Rubric!!
Today, we went over info I’ll be requiring for economic notes, then students worked on writing their notes. Remember to check any info gathered today with CIA World Factbook info and see if the economic difficulties of the past 2 years have impacted percentages from 2000-2002. (DGP, imports, exports, manufactured goods vs. services, etc.)
Homework is to finish Friday’s political notes and work on economic note comparisons. Continue working on your presentation.

We have had a very busy week working and conferencing with our research project!! Today was very productive as students worked on laptops researhing notes for the Government/Political and Economic section of their outline.
Don’t forget to add the Transnational disputes and conflicts listed in the last section of the CIA World Factbook. These go under your political notes and will help answer the EQ of your reseach rubric.
Introduction, Geography, History, and Environmentatl sections should be finished by now. Today, I conferenced with half of each class giving feedback on how to revise these before the Nov. 12 final due date. I’ll add their grades this weekend. I will conference with the 2nd half of each class on Monday and add their grades by Tuesday.
I hope to have Ch 11 tests all scored and grades posted by Sunday night.
Homework is to continue working on your notes and presentation/product. Don’t forget to fill out your bibliography cards for each new source you have used.
