Storms Trackers: You will collect data about three types of severe weather: Hurricanes, tornadoes, and thunderstorms. Listed below are websites that have a great wealth of information. By doing collecting this data, you will learn:

WARM-UP: MM 3 9 10
- We Discussed the Clouds homework. You could laminate it and use it as a guide when outside (hehe). I just might do it! Clouds are cool
. - We watched a BrainPop about humidity then took the quiz as a class (not for a grade)…1st: 90%, 2nd: 80%, 3rd: 80%, 4th: 80%
- We talked about air masses then located them on a map.
- We started making the foldable for our assignment tomorrow.

WARM-UP: 3 5 10
- In groups, we categorized local winds and global winds.
- Quizzes were handed back. If you’d like to earn more points, refer to the homework section below.
- We interpreted the diagram about land and sea breezes then created our own ‘textbook-like’ diagrams for mountain breezes and valley breezes.
- We began working on the homework: weather instruments.

- We shared our winds that we learned about during our jigsaw activity. You will be quizzed over winds tomorrow.
HOMEWORK: You will take your WINDS quiz tomorrow. It will consist of labeling a diagram and vocabulary recognition (fill in the blank sentences). It WILL NOT be multiple choice…please study.

WARM-UP: MM 3 1 10
News clip regarding the earthquake in Chile: Chile Earthquake
- We discussed the ‘Best Weather’ projects. Grades have been posted.
- We discussed the heating lab (Friday)
- The atmosphere graphic organizers (Layers of the Atmosphere) were handed back. If you scored below 70%, you may complete and return for a maximum grade of 70%. It is due no later than tomorrow.
- We started our jigsaw groups today. Your group was given a portion of the WINDS chapter of which you become the expert and share with the class tomorrow. The class will take notes. There will be a quiz over those notes Wednesday. The post-test has several questions regarding these winds so I want to make sure we are prepared
.

WARM-UP: 2 26 10
- We discussed the heat transfer review.
- We conducted a lab today to prove that land heats up and cools off quicker. That’s why the sand is so hot and the water is cooler during the day BUT the sand is cold and the water feels warmer at night!

- We watched an 8 minute videostreaming clip about Earth’s atmosphere. You were allowed this time to add the final touches to your ‘layers of the atmosphere’ sheet. After the clip, the sheet was collected.
- We read about atmospheric heating in the textbook (pages 454-455)
- We worked on the heat transfer review.
HOMEWORK: Finish the heat transfer review (most of you finished this in class)
