WARM-UP: No warm-up today

  1. We shared our winds that we learned about during our jigsaw activity. You will be quizzed over winds tomorrow.

HOMEWORK: You will take your WINDS quiz tomorrow. It will consist of labeling a diagram and vocabulary recognition (fill in the blank sentences). It WILL NOT be multiple choice…please study.

WARM-UP: MM 3 1 10

News clip regarding the earthquake in Chile: Chile Earthquake

  1. We discussed the ‘Best Weather’ projects. Grades have been posted.
  2. We discussed the heating lab (Friday)
  3. The atmosphere graphic organizers (Layers of the Atmosphere) were handed back. If you scored below 70%, you may complete and return for a maximum grade of 70%. It is due no later than tomorrow.
  4. We started our jigsaw groups today. Your group was given a portion of the WINDS chapter of which you become the expert and share with the class tomorrow. The class will take notes. There will be a quiz over those notes Wednesday. The post-test has several questions regarding these winds so I want to make sure we are prepared :) .

HOMEWORK: None (unless you are completing the Layers of the Atmosphere graphic organizer)

WARM-UP: 2 26 10

  1. We discussed the heat transfer review.
  2. We conducted a lab today to prove that land heats up and cools off quicker. That’s why the sand is so hot and the water is cooler during the day BUT the sand is cold and the water feels warmer at night!

WARM-UP: 2 25 10

On-level)

  1. Graded papers were handed back.
  2. We watched an 8 minute videostreaming clip about Earth’s atmosphere. You were allowed this time to add the final touches to your ‘layers of the atmosphere’ sheet. After the clip, the sheet was collected.
  3. We read about atmospheric heating in the textbook (pages 454-455)
  4. We worked on the heat transfer review.

HOMEWORK: Finish the heat transfer review (most of you finished this in class)

ADV)

  1. Graded papers were handed back.

WARM-UP: 2 23 10

  1. We read a really interesting article about space junk. What will Earth’s outer atmosphere look like when you are an adult?!
  2. We started working on the atmosphere graphic organizer. Remember to make a key for you circle graph about the gases in Earth’s atmosphere.
  3. We started the atmosphere mix ‘n match. We will finish this in class tomorrow

WARM-UP: MM 2 22 10

  1. We had time to finish our ‘Best Weather’ projects.
  2. We communicated the results of our data. (A necessary step of the scientific method!)
  3. We worked on the atmosphere anticipation guide.

WARM-UP: NONE :)

  1. We used the entire class researching our 5 cities’ weather. I can’t wait to see which city you choose to ‘move to’ based on its weather! Our  lives often take us to different states based on family or career…why not because we enjoy the weather?

HOMEWORK: Your group needs to come in tomorrow with complete data table for your 5 cities.

WARM-UP: 2 17 10

  1. Papers were handed back and organized in our binders.
  2. We discussed the test. KUDOS to those that made the 100% Club!
  3. We discussed the standards grid and what we’ll be learning during our meterology unit.
  4. We discussed our BEST WEATHER project, got into groups, and determined the type of weather we prefer (It was way too fun listening to all of you defend your positions!)

HOMEWORK: Each group needs a posterboard by Friday or Monday (If you have it Friday, you can begin assembling it. If you can’t get one until the weekend, Monday is fine).
