Happy Monday to all!
AVID students please remember to come prepared for tutorials. We need to have two questions prepared from classes that we are needing to show a grade improvement. I am counting on you to be prepared.

Journalism students have been working hard to complete stories for weekly publications.
AVID students began persuasive writing. Our unit on Bubble Gum Bloom will include writing a jingle and a letter to the principal. It has been a fun lesson. Students in 7th grade should complete the jingle tonight. The jingle should have rhyming words, adjectives to explain/describe the product, a catchy phrase or slogan, and repetition (repeating words).
Remember to be prepared for tutorials. The tutorial request form is attached.

The 7th grade journalism students completed stories for the February 16th edition of the Equestrian Times.
The 7th grade AVID students reviewed Writing Tutorials questions and KSU College Profile. Students received feedback regarding behavior expectations during tutorials as well.
The 8th grade AVID students attended a presentation given by prospective high schools. We will meet again Monday for a full class session.

Today is an Early Release Day. We followed the B Day Only schedule in Connections.
7B AVID students completed "I Am" Poems. Students are encouraged to type their poems and submit no later than tomorrow's class.
8B Journalism students worked on newspaper articles for the Equestrian Times. Also, students had the opportunity to complete the Understanding News and Journalism 101 assignments.
Here is information about an upcoming contest.
The ESPN (Anti-Bullying) Committee is sponsoring a poster and art contest. The entries are not due until Monday, February 9th by 4:30 PM. Each of the two contests will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.
The prizes are (1st place)-a $25 Target or movie gift card ( your choice), ( 2nd place)- a $15 Target or movie gift card (your choice), and (3rd place)- a $5. Target or movie gift card (your choice).

Monday, February 2
What a Marvelous Monday! Today, we returned to our regular class schedule.
Journalism students worked on articles for upcoming editions. In addition, students received the Journalism 101 assignment and Understanding the News assignment. Both assignments are due Friday.
AVID students completed a Power Point lesson on Learning Logs. Students also received the tutorial request form. Please have the form completed before arriving to class tomorrow.
7th grade students completed Brenau University College Profile Activity and began working on Augusta State Profile Activity.
8th grade students completed and reviewed the ASU Profile Activity.
Homework for AVID students is to completed the Tutorial Request Form. Learning Logs are due Friday and should be placed in the AVID section of the binder.
