Eighth Grade AVID Project

Eighth grade AVID students are working to complete a project that is due Monday, May 18.  Students will need 6 small letter envelopes or pockets.  Each of the envelopes should be labeled according to the model presented in class.

The project can be completed in class; however, if additional time is needed a pass can be secured.  Please see me for a 8:15 media center pass.

Thanks,

C. Burlock

Good Morning,

The new blog system is somewhat of a challenge for me.  I hope this message will appear on our classroom blog.

The seventh grade AVID project is due Friday, May 15.  I have provided cereal boxes to students who did not come prepared.  Students should bring in newspaper, old gift bags, gift wrap paper or construction paper to cover the boxes.  Preference should be given to the appropriate school colors.  For example, UGA colors are red and black.  We will spend today in the media center.  Students will have the opportunity to do research and work in the student production lab.  If additional time is needed, students may receive an early 8:15 pass to the media center.  Please print the pass below.

AVID 7th Grade Project

Greetings,

It’s time for us to complete the seventh grade AVID project.

Here’s what we are doing.

1. All students need a standard size cereal box.

2. Students have created a RAFT for College Degree options.

3. Students have created the Value of a College Education essay.  The essay includes three components: (1) why you believe a college education will  be beneficial to you, (2) what college you might attend, and (3) what you hope to accomplish in life.

4. Students were given the College Exploration page to begin completing at home.  Students should visit www.careercruising.com.  The username and password were given to students in class.  Please email me if you have forgotten the information.

5. Career Outlook will be completed in the days to come.
Students will be permitted two days to type the project at school.  Additional passes to the media center are available before school.  Students must request the pass during class.
Happy Learning,

Mrs. Burlock
