Cultural arts night is all about learning about different cultures. The event will be held on February 11th at 7:00 pm. If you would like to help with the event there are two different ways for you to contribute. You can set up and man a table about your own culture or you can help with one of the nine culture tables from our Olympic nations. Please e-mail Patty Reinhardt if you would like more information or would like to help. Thank you in advance for your help and support.
Students received the study guide for the test Friday. We viewed a video on writing a compare contrast essay. We modeled the prewriting step by creating a graphic organizer comparing milk to apple juice. We will continue to explore expository writing tomorrow. In addition, we will have a review activity during class tomorrow for the test Friday.
I would like to encourage each student to create flash cards or use the Cornell note system to prepare for the test.
We took notes on comparison-contrast essays, another form of expository writing.
If you did not complete this assignment in class, please do so tonight for homeowork.
Compare and contrast a pencil to a pen. Write one sentence to introduce the topic, one sentence to explore the similarities, and one sentence to explore the differences.
Don’t forget to work on the DGP sentence.
Read and log!
Today we learned about critical reading and reliable sources. Please review these terms tonight. Dont forget to work on your DGP sentence and read
Greetings,
Today, we revised and edited our expository writing piece. Each student was given a checklist and activities to complete using the rough draft. If your student misplaced the checklist, I am attaching it to this post. I have saved all documents as PDF files. Hopefully, no one will have a problem printing from home.
Please let me know if I can help. Remember, the graphic organizer can be resubmitted for full credit. This must be done no later than Monday.
Please make sure you have completed the following:
___graphic organizer
___rough draft
___Editing Checklist
___Title Page (Page 3, Number 16 on the Checklist)
___Final Copy: may be typed or handwritten in ink
Have a great weekend.

Please work to complete your rough draft for tomorrow. It is important that this task be completed. We will complete the revising and editing process together in class tomorrow.
If you are having problems, please email me tonight. I will check my email after 8 p.m.
Thanks,
C. Burlock
