Reminders for Required Reading for Third Nine Weeks
•A student may not submit a project, if he/she is unwilling to present to the class.
•All Create a Scene projects must be presented Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (March 1-3) during class.
•No projects may be submitted after Wednesday, March 3.
•Only reading logs can be turned after Wednesday. All logs are due March 5.

•Write a compare/contrast essay comparing the characters in the Ant and the Grasshopper, The Tortoise and Hare, and The Richer, The Poorer. •Discuss the theme or moral, how the characters are alike, and how the characters are different. Write a thesis statement that has the underlined phrases. •Writers must use one of the compare-contrast models for this writing assignment.
•Complete the rough draft by Thursday, February 25.
•Final paper due next Friday, March 5. All rough drafts must be completed during class.

Book Swap – These should be books that other middle school students would want to read and should be school appropriate and in good condition. We’ll be collecting books in the Media Center Feb 22-March 4. For every 2 books donated, students will receive a voucher for one book at the book swap March 4 & 5. Books left over from the swap will be offered for Maverick Money.
Dress Up Like A Book Character Day - Friday, March 5. Students and teachers are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be given for awesome costumes!
Compare-Contrast Writing
We compared Oreo cookies to Ritz crackers. Students were given each of the items, as well as nutrional facts (food labels). Students created a Venn diagram to display the similarities and differences. Students also wrote at least one paragraph expository paragraph discussing the two objects.
Please be prepared with your topic tomorrow.
