Sallas’ Music Notes

Good rehearsal yesterday!  Any student who missed yesterday’s rehearsal we will have a make-up rehearsal this Friday from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Honor Roll March: Please work at MM 88-bopping.  This Friday we will individually pass off meas. 17-41 bopping with metronome in class. 

Ancient Moon: Please work at MM 90 from meas. 18 to the end. 

All trumpets need to have a Tom Crown straight mute with a copper bottom in order to play Ancient Moon.  Please get these as soon as possible if you already do not have one.

We will have our Full Band Rehearsal this Tuesday, Feb. 27th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This weekend please practice Honor Roll March at metronome tempo of 84. Be able to bop the entire march at that tempo by this Monday. Please work on Ancient Moon at metronome tempo of 120.

If you haven’t already done so, please bring in a blank cd so that I can burn the festival music on it so that you may practice at home with it. Make sure that your name and class is written on the cd and deposit it into the appropriate wall pocket in the band room.

Large Group Performance Evaluation will be held at McEachern High School for 8th/7-2 band on Tuesday March 20th. Warm-up is at 4:40 and we will perform at 5:20pm. Students will need to wear their band shirt with black pants and black socks and shoes.
We will be taking charter buses from McClure to McEachern High School. The buses will leave at 3pm and water and a snack will be provided. Students will arrive back at McClure at approx. 7pm.

7-1 Band will have their performance at Kell high School on March 27th. They warmup at 5:05 and perform at 5:45. Students will need to wear their band shirt with black pants and black socks and shoes.

Any parents that would like to chaperone this trip please contact Ms. Sallas or Ms. Barnocki. We will need 5 chaperones for each performing group.

All parents, family and friends are welcome to attend these concerts. They are free and open to the public.

Ms. Sallas’ 6th Grade Students have an assignment due on Wed. Feb.21st. The writing assignment consists of 12 measures of music. Students can use eight notes, eighth note rests, quarter notes and quarter note rests. No two measures can be the same and there needs to be a minimum of one rest in each measure. This composition will count as a grade and each student will be asked to perform their composition for the class. Students will be given class time on Thur. and Friday to start this assignment.

Just a quick reminder to all 7-1 Band students about our FULL BAND mandatory after school rehearsal from 4:30-5:30 p.m. this Thursday-Feb. 15 for our upcoming festival performance.

Sectionals are from 4:30pm to 5:30pm

7-2 and 8th grade Clarinets will have a sectional on Monday February 12th from 4:30 to 5:30.

7/1 Band:
Friday 2/9 from 4:30 to 5:30 is a Low Brass & Low Reed make-up sectional for 7-1.
Monday Morning from 8am-9am make-up sectional for Flute, Clarinet and Alto Sax.
