Sallas’ Music Notes

Need to make up work in band?  Wednesdays are your days to replay grades in class.  Please practice and be prepared!!!  The Last day to replay grades is October 10th. 

8th grade students will be playing their Ab concert scale for a grade on Monday!! This will complete the grading for the 4 major scales. They will be playing their Chromatic Scale – full range – on Monday October 8th. Please encourage your students to parctice. If they would like to play for a higher grade they will be able to playin class on Wednesdays. We are coming up to the end of the nine weeks so grades need to be completed by October 10th. Let the Practicing begin!!!

6th grade woodwind and Percussion students will be playing #12 or #13 for a grade on Wednesday. Please encourage your students to practice daily. They should practice saying the name of the note while fingering their instrument, then they should play the line. It is extrememly important they they know the note names! Grades will be entered by Monday Oct. 1,2007. If your child would like to replay the line for a higher grade they will be allowed to play in class on Wednesdays.

Harrison High School and Kennesaw Mtn. High School are having their 8th grade Band night on Sept. 21st!!!  Encourage your child to participate.  Each student attending will receive a t-shirt and will get in the game free.  Students will need their instrument. We have been working on stand tunes and they will be playing along with the high school students in the stands. This is a great opportunity for your child to experience high school band and ask the students involved questions they may have about joining the high school band.  After the half time show students should be picked up by his/her parent.  Ms. Barnocki will be at the KMHS Game and Ms. Sallas will be at the Harrison Game.  Students will check in with us when they arrive and they need to check with us before they leave.  Parents are welcome to come to the game!!  We look forward to seeing you next Friday night

Concert F, Bb, Eb, Ab and the Chromatic Scale grades have been posted. Remember, if you would like to raise your grade you can replay any scale on Monday’s during class. So….keep practicing and come in ready to make an A!!!

The Parent Information Meeting concerning the Disney Trip will be held on Sept.24th @ 7pm.
We will discuss dates, price, rooming accomadations, travel and chaperones.
