Textbook: Georgia and the American Experience
McClure Middle School—where enthusiastic learning shapes individual excellence through innovation and collaboration
Course Description: This is a survey course covering Georgia studies in conjunction with events throughout U.S History. The curriculum is taken from the Georgia Performance Standards. Some of the topics we will cover are:
Georgia’s Beginnings
Colonization
Revolution in Georgia
Georgia Government
Legislative Branch of Government
Executive Branch of Government
Judicial Branch of Government
Local Governments in Georgia
Georgia in a Divided Nation
Developing National Identities
Depression and World Conflict
Societal and Technological Growth
Personal Finance and Georgia’s Economy
What I expect from you:
I expect you to be…
~Prepared for class (book, notebook, & pen or pencil)
~Respectful of yourself, others, and your school
~An active participant in class discussion and activities
~Willing to complete assignments on time

Grading Policy: *40 % from tests & projects
*30% from quizzes
*20% daily work
*10% from homework |
Make up work policy: You have the same amount of time missed to make up work. For example, if a student has been absent one day, they will need to make up the work they missed within one day of their return to school. It is the student’s responsibility to get the work or check the blog (accessible through the McClure website under Eby’s Excursions) for assignments.
The textbook for this course is Georgia and the American Experience by Clairmont Publishing Company. The book can be accessed online via my blog by following these instructions:
