Hello 8-B!
Today we worked on finishing the quiz from Friday on writing the equation of a line. Then everyone did an independent study on Lines of Best fit. You took notes on pages 660 – 661 in the textbook and then completed the following problems: p.662 (1-10) and p.663 (15-24). Finish this for HW. Those of you who were assigned the extension activity started it in class on Friday and were to complete it in class today and turn it in. Please be sure to complete the textbook assignment for tomorrow.
UNIT 5 TEST is scheduled for Thursday 2/11. Please start reviewing graphing linear equations and inequalities and writign the equation of a line.
See you tomorrow!

Hello 8-B!
Today we reviewed in class for tomorrow’s Graphing test. Here is the study guide key for anyone who needs the solutions: StudyGuideGraphEq-IneqKEY
Chapter 12 is a good place to review the content we have learned in class on graphing. Remember that there will also be a few CRCT review questions on the test (like the warm-up we did yesterday).
Here is a good website for graphing linear equations and inequalities. This link will take you to the inequalities part, but you can view other modules (like graphing linear equations). Homework is to study for your test. See you tomorrow! http://teachers.henrico.k12.va.us/math/HCPSAlgebra1/module6-6.html

Hello 8-B!
Tuesday 1/19: Today we did a CRCT review in 1st period and worked on correcting the problems missed. In 5th and 7th periods, we discussed slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. There was no HW for either class.
Wednesday 1/20: Today we had the writing test, so our class time was not normal. In all classes I returned your graded graphing quizzes and we did the CRCT review practice. If you scored below 80 on the graphing quiz, please be sure to complete the graphing quiz redo page so I can be sure you know how to correctly graph a linear equation before our test next week. There was no HW unless you didn’t finish the CRCT review in class.
Thursday 1/21: Today we are learning how to graph linear inequalities through application problems.
1st and 7th periods: Homework for tonight is to graph the following inequalities:
1.) 2y + 5x < 6
2.) 8y – 4x > 16
3.) -3x – 6y < -18
4.) 2x + 4y > 12
5.) 9x - 3y < -15
6.) 10x + 5y > 25
5th Period HW: Create 2 inequality word problems on your own. Write the equation and graph them and remember to label the x- and y- axes.
FYI… Test on graphing equations and inequalities is on Tuesday of next week. (5th period I may move it to Wednesday – we will see how we do tomorrow.)
See you tomorrow!

Hello 8-B!
Today we practiced our three methods for graphing equations. We are having a quiz tomorrow on the three graphing methods learned in class this week: t-tables, slope-intercept, and x-and y-intercepts.
HW for 5th & 7th periods only is the following:
Graph the following usign the given directions:
1.) 9x – 6y = 18; slope-intercept
2.) -16x + 8y = 32; x and y intercepts
3.) 5x – 5y = -20; t-table
See you on Monday!

Hello 8-B!
1st and 7th periods: today we worked on practice with all three methods of graphing linear equations. Homework for tonight is to complete 4 of the following problems:
Graphing Equations Practice (1-7)
Complete the following directions for each equation and set of ordered pairs listed below:
a.) Use the points to find slope
b.) Put the equation in slope-intercept form
c.) Find the x-intercept
d.) Find the y-intercept
e.) Graph the equation using the 4 points you have found.
f.) Identify the slope and the y-intercept.
Problems to complete:
1.) 3y + 6x = 12 (1, 2) and (-3, 10)
2.) -2y + 4x = 16 (3, -2) and (5, 2)
3.) 20x – 10y = 60 (-4, 14) and (2, -2)
4.) 3x + 9y = -18 (6, -4) and (-3, -1)
5.) 4x + 8y = 24 (10, -2) and (4, 1)
6.) -15x + 5y = 30 (2, 12) and (-4, -6)
7.) -8x + 32y = -96 (-4, -4) and (8, -1)
5th period only: Today we leared how to graph a line using the slope-intercept form of an equation. Please graph the following equations for HW tonight:
1.) y = 2x + 1
2.) y = (1/2)x – 5
3.) y = (2/3)x – 3
4.) y = -3x + 2
5.) y = 5x
Our Quiz on graphing equations has been moved to Friday. Tomorrow we will review all three methods again in class and practice for mastery!!! See you tomorrow!
