This week we will be starting the Human Growth and Development unit. The name of the unit is CHOOSING THE BEST WAY. In this unit we will be discussing the following topics:decision making, friendships/relationships, avoiding unhealthy relationships, Choosing the best way, and the need to set boundaries. 7th Grade

This week we will be starting the Human Growth and Development unit. The name of the unit is CHOOSING THE BEST PATH. In this unit we will be discussing the following topics: STD’s and HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy, Pressures to be sexually active, choosing the best path, the need to speak up, and the need to be assertive. 8th Grade

This week we will be starting the Human Growth and Development unit. The name of the unit is WAIT TRAINING. In this unit we will be discussing the following topics:STD’s, benefits of Abstinence, teen pregnancy, and ways to be assertive. The unit will last about 2 weeks. This week we will be learning about perseverance and the will to never give up. The class will watch the movie RUDY this week. The students will then write an essay on how the movie showed us to perservere and never give up in life.

7th Grade

This week the  students will be learning about racism/prejudice. The class  will then write an essay on how the movie taught us about the role of racism in our society, and how far our society has come regarding racism. Friday will be our healthy snack day. Students will bring in a healthy snack for the class.

8th

The students will begin a unit on accepting others. The class will begin watching the movie RADIO. The students will then write a reflection on why we should accept others. Friday will be our healthy snack day. Students will bring in a healthy snack for the class.

This week we will be ending the nutriton unit. The students will learn about eating disorders. The students will then be learning about racism/prejudice. The class will watch the movie REMEMBER THE TITANS this week. The students will then write an essay on how the movie taught us about the role of racism in our society, and how far our society has come regarding racism. Friday will be our healthy snack day. Students will bring in a healthy snack for the class.

8th

This week the students will create an exercise plan. We will then begin the unit on accepting others. The class will begin watching the movie RADIO. The students will then write a reflection on why we should accept others. Friday will be our healthy snack day. Students will bring in a healthy snack for the class.

The students will develop a safety scenario skit. The students will also have a safety classwork assignment later this week.We will be having a healthy snack day on Friday. The students will bring in various healthy snacks for the class. I will have a sign up sheet for the students on Tuesday.

7th Grade

This week we will be finishing the drug unit. The class will learn about the negative effects of tobacco and alcohol. We will then start the nutrition unit. The students will learn about factors like managing weight, saturated vs. unsaturated fat, calories, and the negative effects of fast food. The students will have an eating disorder writing assignment later this week.

8th Grade

This week we will be starting finishing the nutrition unit. We will then start the fitness unit. The students will develop their own physical fitness plan. Friday will be the healthy snack day. The students will bring in a healthy snack to share with the class

 This week we will start the nutrition unit. The students will learn about the new food guide pyramid. The students will also learn about making smart food decisions. We will present the health food project this week. The students will take their food pyramid test later this week. We will be having a healthy snack day, the students will sign up and bring in a healthy snack for the class.

7th Grade

 This week we will start the drug unit. The students will start their drug newscast project on Tuesday. The students will then learn about the harmful effects of alcohol and tobacco. The students will be shown various videos that shows the harmful side affects.

 8th Grade

This week we will finish with the drug unit. The students will learn about the harmful effects of tobacco and alcohol. The students will then start the nutrition unit. They will learn about the different nutrients our body needs. The students will also learn about some different eating disorders.

 This week we will be continuing the drug unit. The students will be learning about the negative affects of tobacco and alcohol. Later this week we will start the nutrition unit. The students will learn about the food guide pyramid.

7th Grade

This week we will be continue the CPR unit. The students will learn skills like: Checking an unconsious person, CPR, Consious and unconsious choking. The students will have the CPR test later in the week.

8th Grade

 This week we will be starting the nutrition unit. The students will learn about the various nutrients found in food. The students will then develop a creative healthy snack for a project grade. At the end of the nutrition unit the students will have a healthy snack day in class. Each student will sign up for a healthy snack to bring in to class to share with other students.

This week we will  start the drug unit. We will discuss the harmful affects of tobacco and alcohol. The students will have a classwork assignment later in the week. We will also discuss the link between depression and suicide.

7th GRADE

This week we will start the CPR unit. The students will learn various cpr skills during the unit. The skills include: checking an unconsious person, cpr, unconsious choking, and consious choking. The students will have their CPR test later this week.

8th GRADE

This week we will start the Drug unit. The students will start their drug projects on Monday. The students will have to develop an anti-drug ad for the drug of their choice. we will discuss a variety of different drugs including alcohol and tobacco.

This week we will be learning about social and mental health. The students will have a test on the three dimensions this week. The students will also be learning on how to handle conflict and to establish a high self esteem. We will be starting the coat of arms project later this week.

7TH GRADE

This week we will be learning about how to handle stress. The students will have a test this week covering the information on the components that make up your health. We will be starting the health triangle project this week. We will also learn about the importance of goals.  

8TH GRADE

This week we will be learning about setting goals for yourself. The students will complete their personal goal project on Tuesday. We will learn about the 5 main things that affect your health. The students will have a central questions quiz  this week.
