Today we had a special treat! We went to the theater to see Carmen Deedy (children’s author) and she was so good! She told a great story and we were all spellbound. Be Bold, Be Bold….not Mrs. Mullen! I never would have walked into that creepy house in the woods! In class, we celebrated with creating our own stories. Some were quite interesting:)

Open House was great….

It was so nice to meet your parents at open house! They are very supportive and eager to see that you are doing a good job at school. Keep up the good work and make us both proud!

Classwork:
Today we had a treat! We watched Mt. Everest which was the documentary that was made for IMAX some time ago. We are so fortunate to have the
LCD projector and sound system! The footage of Mount Everest was spectacular! It was a nice way to end our chapter on the physical geography of this region.

Homework:
Your persuasive paragraph is due on Monday. Remember the subject of your paragraph: "Should Mrs. Mullen climb Mt. Everest?" The paragraph should contain an opinion statement followed by at least three supporting details. Illustrate this for extra credit. Also, as I explained in class, I will be looking for correct grammar, sentence structure, etc. Good luck and be creative:)

Why Climb Mt. Everest? “Because It’s There”…

Classwork:
Today we continued with our cornell notes on the landforms of Southern and Eastern Asia. We learned how the Himalayan Mountains were formed and what impact they have on the people of Asia. Next week we will be discussing the intrique of Mt. Everest and why so many people are "dying" to climb this dangerous mountain.

Remember: Progress reports went home today. Yes, your parents need to see them and sign the form that you received in homeroom. The positive thing about progress reports is that you either are doing a great job or if not, you have time to pull that grade up! You can do it! I believe in you!

Homework:
Summary of your notes from lesson 1. This summary should be written at the bottom of your notes.

Have a great weekend!
