Classwork:
Today we learned just how serious Singapore is with their rules and punishment associated with breaking their rules. Wasn’t it interesting to learn that chewing gum is against the law? Wow….. We also learned about an American youth, Michael Fay, who was subjected to the punishment of Singapore when he decided to vandalize some cars for a "prank". It’s not surprising that Singapore’s crime rate is very low which makes one wonder…"do stricter laws result in a safer environment?"
If you were absent:
You need to read both front and back of "Studying Singapore" and "When in Singapore" and complete the worksheet "Just or Unjust". Refer to the homework for your writing assignment. You will find these worksheets in the blue crate under number 16.
Homework:
You are to write one paragraph (5-6 sentences), answering the question, "do stricter laws result in a safer environment?" Remember to watch your spelling, grammar and punctuation. The answer to this question will be your opinion, however, you need to back it up with some valid reasons. This assignment, along with the cover page, is due on Friday, 1/19th.
