We started class by reviewing all of the physical features of Africa. We then learned about the creation of the Sahara desert and how the Sahara is actually growing due to desertification. If you were absent: You need to make sure that you have a complete map of Africa for your quiz next Tuesday. Also read the two information sheets (”Farmland to Desert” and “More Farmland to Desert” ) and complete the reflection. Both are in the file box.

We started our day by watching CNN student news as they honored our armed forces on Pearl Harbor Day. We then looked at all types of geographic data on Africa. If you were absent, you need to complete the Africa data worksheet that we completed in class and label the map of Africa.

Today we talked about how important globalization is in today’s world. We looked at statistics from a global perspective and discussed our role in the world’s economy. We also reviewed the worksheet that we completed yesterday which included resources, scarcity and opportunity cost. As we travel through Africa, we will be looking at economics and how it influences this great continent.
