Monday: Today we worked on Mouse Genetics ..up to #12. We will dive into dihybrid crosses later.
We practiced using our knowledge of recessive, dominant, heterozygous, and homozygous when when Adopted A Zork. Congratulations on your new arrival. They were all amazing looking creatures!
Tomorrow when you arrive be sure to take a look at some of the websites on your rating sheet. Are they worth sharing with others or not? Are they easy to use? Do they confuse you or are they clear and concise? What do you think?
Homework: Complete your reading and section review questions for Section 3. These are due Wednesday!

Today we quickly reviewed over Mendel and his discoveries and then explored how probability works using the “Mouse Genetics” website. If you did not finish this in class, finish by Monday…so that we can discuss your results.

By Monday you need to read Chapter 5: Section 1 & 2 “Mendel and His Peas” on pages 114-119 and Traits and Inheritance” on pages 120-125. Answer the Section Review (page 119 #’s 1-10) (page 125 , #’s 1-9) in complete sentences. Also, add the pertinent key terms to your Genetics Glossary page.

Today…..
We turned in our Genetics Vocabulary Project and took a open – note quiz ove cellular reproduction. Those students that did not turn in their Vocabulary Project were given time to eork on it in class. All projects turned in after today are considered late!
Students that earned a raw score of 98% on the Human Body Benchmark were entitled to a free sundae or rootbeer float. All other students had the opporunity to purchase treats for maverick reward monies. Contibe to shine and you too shall be rewarded:)

Warm-Up: RP#3week0222
Classwork: Today in class we illustrated Mitosis vs MeiosisMitosis and Meiosis illustration and then we completed a compare and contrast chart mitosis vs meiosisso that we could observe the similarities and differences between the 2 methods of cell reproduction. Those who finished received an opportunity to view mushroom spores uder the microscope. If you would like to see them for yourself you can come in early, before school, on Friday.

Today we finished working on our Tiered Assignments. If you have not completed yours, you need to finish it up for homework and be prepared to turn it in on Monday. If you are working on creating a brochure using Microsoft Publisher, I will give you a few extra days to come in early to finish your task. I will be at the school at 8:05 am Monday morning.
HUMAN BODY BENCHMARK EXAM ON MONDAY!….STUDY…..and get bonus points! If you you bring your study guide with a signed note from a parent or guardian stating that they helped you study, bonus points will be added to your final score.
STUDY SESSION MONDAY! If you are interested in a morning study session before you take your Benchmark Test, come see me at 8;05 am for a final review.

How is a cell like the human body? How are the organelles of a cell like the organs of the human body?

Systems at Work! Tiered Assignment
Students were place into groups to complete various activities based on their level of readiness. We had Medical Specialists, General Physicians, and Medical Clerks all work on various assignments to strengthen and reinforce their knowledge of the body systems.
Group 1: U R in Trouble…5 patients have some problems, can you diagnosis their disorder?
Group 2: Mission to Mars… Some astronauts are preparing fo a journey into outer space, can you warn them of the side effects outer space has on the functions of the human body systems?
Group 3: SOS……The medical office has had a filing catastrophe, can you put everything back in order?
Today each member of the Human Body Corporation had to submitted their selection of who should be saved by writing a paragraph that states the organ of their choice supported by details. Who did you pick?
