1.Benchmark Testing in the MAC Lab-Thank you for your participation. This test will guide me in planning for your future instructions. It will also help you detemine areas where you may need more practice.
Next Week: We will complete the conclusion of our persuasive paragraphs, edit and publish. We have just about completed our novel, so I see a test in your future. Ongoing activities:DGP and DRP
Homework: Read a good book while munching on all those treats. Don’t forget to log your pages.

Homework: Kinds of sentences worksheet-Complete all of the first page (p.16) and the first three sentences on the back page(p.17). Thank you for your cooperation. I hope the examples that we reviewed in class will allow you the opportunity to complete the homework quickly and independently. If you have any problems, come see during homeroom. Attention All 7th Graders!!!
Mark your calendars for
“ROCKTOBERFEST”
October 29th from 4:15-6:00 on the back patio.
We will have a DJ, pizza, awesome raffle prizes, twister and even an air guitar contest.
Tickets will be on sale in the mornings from Friday-Thursday in the Grand Atrium. We have a $4.00 Friday deal if you buy your tickets on Friday. After that the price will go up to $5.00.

How Can I Help My Child Exceed Standards on the CRCT?
We hope that you will join us on Tuesday night, October 27th at 7:00 PM in the McClure Theater for CRCT Parent Night. We want to focus on ways that we can work together to ensure that your child not only “meets” standards on the CRCT this spring, but that they exceed standards in all areas possible.
An overview session for all parents will be held in the theater from 7:00-7:20. Parents will then have the opportunity to attend three mini-sessions of their choice to enhance their child’s success on the CRCT. The schedule is listed below:

Persuasion is all around us: As you are watching television this evening, analyze the persuasive technique in the advertisements. Is it logical, ethical , emotional or bandwagon?
Continue to read and log the pages. Remember you are also allowed to log the pages of our in class novel, Someone is Hiding on Alcatraz Island. Today you should have read through page 45.
Tomorrow is a writing day. Be prepared to use your power of persuasion.

Persuasion is writing or speech that tries to get people to think or act in a certain way. Persuasion is everywhere-advertisements,speeches and editorials
Today we learned about persuasive techniques: ethical, emotional and bandwagon.
Homework: Bring in a magazine advertisement, and be prepared to discuss the types of persuasive technique that is being used.
