That’s right! It’s due date time…. as you heard back during the 2nd and 3rd week of school, your reading and journal pages are due this coming Monday, October 5th. You must have 450 pages logged, 2 genres completed, and 18 journal pages written! Because of the craziness of last week’s floods and the excitement of this week’s olympics, it has come to my attention that several of us are not quite where we need to be in order to get it all done by Monday. After much mental debate in my own head over the last couple of days, I have decided to make the remainder of this week time for reading and journals to be completed in class. I will not post task sheets for each day since everyday we will be working on reading and journaling!!! Please let me know if you have any questions!

I know you are dying to know who was picked for the cheerleading, tug-of-war, and academic bowl teams for the upcoming Olympic Week. We will have this information posted at the end of the 6-A hallway (outside of my room) tomorrow morning! Don’t you just love the suspense?!?!?!

I had SO much fun at open house last night! It was so nice to meet all your parents and for those that couldn’t come, I hope I can meet each of them very soon! Several of your parents asked me to post the powerpoint I used last night on my blog and I had every intention of doing so before I left last night and then I forgot. If you’d like to view the slides from open house, please click on the link at the bottom of this post. Remember also that you can click on the reading and journal tabs in order to view FAQs focusing on those two areas! I’ve also attached some other useful documents such as the syllabus and first newsletter that was sent home during the first week of school. The newsletter was made using Microsoft Publisher. If you are unable to download it and would like a new copy, I do have a few left that I can send home while supplies last!

Hello 6-A!!! I wanted to take a quick minute to remind you that all of your daily task sheets are located under the “Today’s Tasks” page, so you won’t see new posts from the homepage. Also, please pay close attention to due dates in the extra credit tab. There have been several people who have submitted the first extra credit in the last day or two and I can’t accept it late! For one thing, the due date was August 21. For another, we revealed the answer during class!!! I can’t give you points for work you didn’t really do!
Please remember that we have our first reading and journal check-in this Friday. We are 1/2 way through the grading period, so you should technically have 225 pages logged for reading and 9 pages written for journals. It is ok if you don’t have that much done yet, but it is time to get on the ball!!!
Please let me know if you have any questions about anything at all! I am here for you in whatever way I can be!
See you tomorrow,
Mrs. Burchette
