Burchette- Bringing Language to Life

Don’t forget that we will be having our first check-in for this nine weeks tomorrow, October 30, as well as conferences to discuss the reading and journals from 1st nine weeks.  As we’ve discussed in class several times, due to the numerous amounts of errors and omitted information, these pages were unable to be included on the report card becuase I did not want your grades to drop that drastically since I had not been able to meet with everyone during the course of the first grading period.  Some of the things we will be discussing tomorrow will be how to raise your first nine weeks’ reading and journal grades so that it does not impact your grade as much as it would currently.

It is very important that you have all of your reading and journal pages with you tomorrow!  If you are planning on using one of the alternative methods of evidence, please make sure you have the appropriate paperwork to show me during your check-in time!

Results are in (and have been for weeks, but it’s the first time we’ve gotten to talk about it) for the Class Average Challenge….

Congratulations 4th period!  You ended the 1st nine weeks with an average of 95%!  That’s awesome!  Don’t forget to send me your ideas for your reward so that we can vote on Thursday of this week!!!

Hi everyone!  I just wanted to remind you of the ‘parent’ pages I discovered when playing around on the blog while y’all were taking your benchmark tests on Monday.  I’ve now combined a lot of the blog pages into just a few ‘parent’ pages.  Under the READING AND JOURNALING tab, you will find links to take you to the reading and journal pages.  Under DAILY ASSIGNMENTS, you will find the links for today’s tasks, drp and dgp, and notes.  Everything else is the same as of right now.  I will continue to post notices about any further changes in addition to showing you the changes during class time!

We completed another round of benchmark testing in language arts today; therefore, there will be now task sheet for today.  I am, however, posting the next DRP paragraphs and questions that we will start tomorrow!  We will be starting week 5 and that information can be obtained under the DRP tab!

The sixth grade event (pizza party and music) will be held this Thursday, Oct. 8th from 4:15 to 6:00. Admission is $5.00 and that will include pizza and a soft drink for each student. Tickets can be purchased before school any day this week leading up to the event.  There will be candy and snacks for sale at the event as well. Parents who wish to volunteer can contact Maria Harbin. All students should be picked up at the front of the school at 6:00 PM.
