7th Grade Assignment for Wednesday (2/10) and Friday (2/12):

You are working diligently on your video for the Media Festival, BUT…

…what about those long-ago days when TV and movies didn’t exist?? Can you entertain your audience with just the power of your words (and some really great sound effects!)??

Your job today (and Friday) is to work on a radio show scriptYou may work individually or with a group – but everyone must have an active part in writing.

Listen to this example of the famous radio show “The Shadow.” Be sure to pay attention to how the show grabs the audience’s attention and keeps it (also remember that the audience has NEVER seen TV or movies – so don’t try to compare it! It’s totally different!)  The Shadow broadcast

Steps for today:

1) Brainstorm different stories that you could tell – drama, comedies, soap operas, rewritten fairy tales, WHATEVER! But you are telling a STORY!

2) Choose a topic and start writing the script.  Remember to build in sound effects in the background to help the audience feel like they are there inside the story. Here’s an example of a radio show script (the script isn’t a story – it’s really directions for how to write the script!) script format
