7th: Be studying for vocab quiz on Monday and working hard on your perspective drawings. They are homework if not finished by Friday in class.

8th: Study for vocab quiz tomorrow- fill in the blank format, not open notes and no word bank. Graffiti designs due at the beginning of class tomorrow. Please start bringing in magazines and good photos of your face for our next self-portrait project.

6th: Be studying for your vocab quiz on Monday. We will finish drawings today, color with crayons for the next couple days and then paint our watercolor resist on top. The drawings will demonstrate a certain season and communciate yoru feelings about that time of year.

***If you have… colored pencils, soap, or old magazines to donate, please bring them in.

7th Grade: Please bring in colored pencils for your projects if you have them at home. I will do a pastel and other coloring material demonstration tomorrow so that you guys can begin coloring your dream homes. Friday is the last class work day, and then they are home work for Monday. Monday is your persepctive vocab quiz.

8th: Tomorrow is the last day to work on graffiti deisgns in class. If not finished, they go home for homework for Thursday. Thursday you will also have your first vocab quiz. Study up!

6th: We drew our nature objects today and placed them in our compositions. We will put finishing touches on tomorrow, trace over lines in sharpie, and then begin coloring with crayons.

7th: Working on perspective drawings, last day to work in-class is Friday. Due Monday. MONDAY NOVEMEBR 2 is your vocab quiz over perspective terms. STUDY- IT IS NOT OPEN NOTES!

8th: NEW DUE DATES! Garfitti name designs: Wednesday last in class work day (due Thursday). Do not turn in yet, as we will self-reflect and group critique on Thursday. Vocab quiz will now be Thursday. STUDY! IT WILL NOT BE OPEN NOTES.

6th: Nature Trail today! Yay!  Tomorrow we will begin drawing the items that we collect today using careful contour lines and creating an interesting composition.

7th: You guys are doing a great job  on your perspective drawings! We will continue working on them next week, with Friday, October 30, being the last in class work day. They will be due Monday, November 2. You will also have your first vocab quiz that day, over all perspective words. It will not be open notes, and will be a fill-in-the-blank format.

8th: Field Trip today. We wil lcontinue working on grafitti name deisgns on Monday. Tuesday will be your last in-class work day, and they will be due Wednesday. Plan accordingly. Wednesday, October 28 you will have your first vocabulary quiz. It will NOT be open notes and will be fill-in-the-blank format.

6th: Rain=No Nature trail today. Boooooooo! We will try for Monday. Today we will begin working on our contour drawings, discuss the nature trail expectations, and wil hang our name designs in the hallway to display. If you do not desire yours to be displayed, you may take them home instead.

 

*Blog Extra Credit: Complete 10 1-minute drawings from observation (looking at something and drawing what you see).  Pick objects sitting around your house that have interesting shapes and forms. You can do it all on one sheet of paper with small drawings or cut small pieces of paper and ocmplete a drawing on each. Turn in by Monday 10/26.

7th: We worked on rough drafts of perspective projects today. You will want to be working on your final draft starting tomorrow. Friday 10/10 last in-class work day; however, you can turn them in on Monday without penalty and complete as homework. Your vocab quiz will be Monday, November 2. All words chosen for the quiz will be words pertaining to (that have to do with) perspective drawing. Start studying! You will need to be able to fill in the blank based on understanding of the words and it’s definition.

8th: After you have checked off your shading worksheet with me, you should begin shading your letters. You will have tomorrow (if here), Monday and Tuesday to work. If not finished in class on Tuesday, then you are taking them home to complete as homework and turn in on Wednesday 10/28. Your first vocabulary quiz will also be Wednesday 10/28. Study words for comprehension (understanding) in order to be able to fill in the blank in a sentence with the appropriate vocab word.

6th: Today is the last in-class work day for your name deisgns. They are homework to be turned in by Monday after today. Tomorrow, weather permitting, we will be out on the natrue trail, so please dress appropriately.

Today, students only went to second hour connections classes.

Due dates for projects below:

8th: Graffiti name designs due at the end of class  on Tuesday, 10/27. Homework if not finished by then, and can be turned in by Wednesday, 10/28 without late penalties. Starting Thirsday, projects will be deducted 10 point s a day, and will not be accepted after the following Thursday.

7th: Your perspective projects need to be completed by Monday, Novemeber 2. HOWEVER, Friday, 10/30 will be the last class work day. That means unfinished projects will be homework to turn in Monday. Late points will begin being deducted on Tuesday, Novemeber 3, and projects will not be accepted after the following Tuesday (1 week).

6th: This Thursday is the last in-class work day for your name designs. If not finished, they will be homework to be turned in by Monday, October 26. Late points will begin being deducted on Tuesday, October 27, and no projects will be accepted a week after that. This Friday we will be on the nature trail, so please dress with appropriate warm attire (if chilly outside) and walking shoes.

We had some great presentations to day for Red Ribbon week, with the 6th and 8th graders learning about the dangers of chewing tobacco and cancer, and the 8th graders about the laws regarding teen safe driving. Due to the presentations, students only visited 1st hour connections classes today, and will only visit second hour tomorrow, due to early release day.

8TH: your graffiti designs will be due on Tuesday 10/27. They will be homework if not finished in class. We will first practice shading forms on the worksheet provided, and then you will begin shading your letters and background.

7th: Perspective drawings will be due Friday 10/30. The rubric will be reviewed to go over criteria. Please bring images that may be helpful in the deisgn of your dream home- The sky is the limit!

6th: Your name designs will be due on Thursday, however, you can take them home to finish on Thursday and turn in on Friday if need be. Friday, weather permitting, we will be on the nature trail, gathering items that we will learn to draw from observation on Monday. Please dress accordingly with good “hiking” shoes. No flip-flops or heels please!

7th and 8th graders worked on Draw Squad drawings today with the substitute. These drawings should have been turned in, if you accidentally placed them in your portfolios, please turn them in tomorrow.

6th: We finished drawing our name deisgns today and colored them as well. These will be due on Monday, October 26, but Thursday will be our last in-class work day.

 

Tomorrow, we will have a speaker during connections for Red Ribbon Week. All grade levels will attend a special session. We will see first hour classes only. It is also advisement pumpkin decorating day!

Wednesday is an early release day, so students will only attend their second hour connections class!

This coming week is Red Ribbon Week. Tuesday there will be a guest speaker for all grade levels during connections classes. Wednesday will be an early release day.

7th: We covered 2 pt perspective today in class. Monday you will be working on Draw Squad drawings with the substitute, and Tuesday we will begin our perspective projects designing your dream homes.

8th: Your goal today wa sto get your finalized name/tage design drawn on your final paper. Monday you will be working on Draw Squad drawings with a substitute, and then next time I see you we will learn and practice shading techniques.

6th: We transferred our name designs to final paper today and added background. Ms. S did a demonstration on creating contrast and shadow in the letters in order to give them more dimension, and some students started coloring using colored pencils.

7th: We continued 1 pt perspective today, adding doors, windows, and rooftops. Tomorrow we will begin 2-pt perspective.

8th: We began our name designs or artist stages today, learning how to make visually interesting bubble letters, and adding a personal flare. Tomorrow we will finish the final deisgns, and add background imagery or themes.

6th: We reviewed making 3-D letters today, practiced the letters of our names, and then some began their final designs.
