It’s been a great 9 weeks and I hope everyone is ready for a great, relaxing holiday break!
Since you will all have new connections classes upon return in January, here are a few itmes of interest to mention:
1.) Cultural arts night will take place, Thursday, February 11 at 7:00. If you left work here to be hung, you will have the work returned by the beginning of March. If you took works home that you would like to be displayed, please return those as soon as possible after the break.
2.) If you left work here that you want to keep, please stop in the very beginning og the week you return from break. I will be cleaning out the room by the end of that week.

All works for the Cultural Arts Night Show were collected yesterday. Please bring in by tomorrow, any work that has not been collected, but that you would like to be displayed in the show. Also, all portfolios and work not being collected for the show need to go home today and tomorrow. Any late work needs to be turned in by tomorrow as well. Friday we will be in the gym watching and playing in the teachers vs. students basketball game.
7th: Working on still-life drawings. Learning how to shade today and finishing tomorrow.
8th: Finishing up alter-egos. These should be turned in by the end of class tomorrow with your self-reflection.
6th: Fnishing up alejibres. They will need to be finished painting tomorrow, and can be taken home tomorrow and Friday, unless being colelcted for the show in the spring.

Everyone: I will be collecting work tomorrow and Wednesday for Cultural Arts night in febrauary and for our March show at The Art Station at Big Shanty. Please bring back any works that you had taken home but want displayed in the show(s).
7th: We finished landscape paintings today. They will need to be turned in tomorrow with the rubric filled out. Bring in personal items for your still-lifes tomorrow. We will begin drawing and then shading them. Make sure to have pencils and erasers with you.
8th: My condolences: Many masks blew up in the kiln. If yours made it through, then you are painting it. If not, you are either drawing and painting it on paper, or building it out of cardboard to paint. They will all need to be turned in with the self-reflection filled out.
6th: All amate bark paintings should now be turned in. We are now sculpting our alejibres (fantasy animals). We will plaster gauze wrap them and then paint them in bright patterns.

7th: Landscape paintings will e due at the end of class on Monday 12/14. Students who finish early should turn in and work on an early finisher. Next week we will complete a short project and all work not being submitted for Cultural Arts Night should be taken home.
8th: Alter-egos needed to be finished and left uncovered eitehr today in class, or in the morning if you are coming in to work. If you need extra time but did nto get a pass, I will leave a note at the front desk in the morning just in case. Tomorrow have your sketches becuase we will be discussing color symbolism and you will color your sketches in order to plan for painting. I will also demonstrate painting techniques and you will practice painting on Friday to be ready to begin painting the masks on Monday.
6th: Amate paintings will need to be finished in class tomorrow, those who need more time may come in tomorrow morning to work. We will be starting alejibres fantastical animals tomorrow as well.

7th: Painting landscapes this week
8th: Wednesday (or early Thursday morning) will be the last wet clay day for alter-egos. I will be here early on Wednesday and Thursday. See me if you need a pass for more extra time. They will hopefully fire on Friday so that you guys can paint them next week.
6th: We will try to finish amate paintings up on or before Wednesday so that we can learn some new material before the end of next week. Be sure to outline in sharpie and turn in when finished. Also, the first batch of plates and bowls have been glaze fired. please take them home. The rest will be unloaded and ready to go home on Wednesday.

7th: We watched a video on Monet today and took note son the worksheet provided. There was also a paint demonstration on how to set up, clean up, and painting techniques. Tomorrow we will start painting and experimenting with technique and color-mixing, and Friday we will start our landscape paintings, so bring any materials that you would like for Friday. All mandalas and jars should now be turned in.
8th: We finished our reflective glass value drawings today. They look great! Be sure that you turned yours in to the shelf up front for rgrading. Tomorrow we will begin brainstorming and sketching out ideas for our alter-egos, in addition to a brief demonstration on creating a clay slab for you mask.
6th: We will finish sketching out our amate bark painting ideas today, and then begin painting when ready.
