7th: Friday will be your last day to work on shading self-portraits. We will also be marblizing paper on Friday to use as backgrounds for the portraits. We will continue our nonobjective compositions next week, after viewing nonobjective artworks frmo a numbe rof different artists.

8th: Tomorrow is the last class day to work on self-portraits and collage. The self-reflection can be filled out on Friday, but the portraits will be homework for Monday if not yet finished. We will begin a new unit on Friday.

6th: Today is the last day to work on amate paintings. We will also be learnign to rdaw using contour lines and careful observation. TOMORROW WE WILL BE ON THE NATURE TRAIL- SO DRESS WARMLY AND WEAR GOOD WALKING SHOES!!!!!

8th: Thursday is the last day to work on self-portraits. They are homework for Monday after that.

6th: Tomorrow is the last day to paint amates. Plan for going out on the nature trail on Thursday. Dress Warmly!!!

Cultural Arts Night is Thursday at 7:00. Come out to learn new things and support the McClure community!

7th: We began self-portraits today, gridding our photographs and drawing papers and discussing contour line drawing. We will continue drawing from observation tomorrow.

8th: Today was the high school presentations during connections time. Hope you have a better idea now of what to expect next year!

6th: Color wheel quiz is tomorrow. We worked on painting and outlining amates today and reviewed for the quiz. Study tonight! You will need to label all color correctly, and mix and paint all colors correctly with good craftsmanship!

Don’t foget Cultural Arts Night is next Thursday, the 11th, at 7:00. Hope to see you there!

7th: All tiles shoudl be turned in. If you did not get a chance to fill out the rubric, please complete this weekend to bring in on Monday. Questions are as follows:

1. What symbols did you include on your tile?

2. What do you think you did well?

3. What could you improve?

4. How did you feel about this project (with reasons).

We will start self-portraits on Monday. If you would like to bring in a photo, it must be printed in black and white and be 3.5 X 5 inches. it must also be a good shot of the face.

 

8th: We are continuing to work on Self-portraits. We start collage on Monday so bring in those magazines!

6th: Color wheel quiz is on Tuesday- you will need to be able to write in color names (spelled correctly), mix and paint colors correctly and neatly. We will review daily until then, and will also be working on our amate paintings.

Cultural Arts Night is fast approaching and work is being hung on the walls. If you are interested in participating, please contact PTSA or myself, and if you would like to attend, then I hope to see you there. Events include: musical performances, educational tables, video, art stations, community outreach stations and more. It should be a great night. Please bring a donation of peanut butter or jelly to donate to MUST Ministries. Thanks!

7th: Tiles should have been turned in at the end of class today. Monday we start a unit on self-portraiture using grided drawing techniques. You will need #2 pencils!

8th: We are workign on self-portraits and will start the collage elements next week. Please bring in magazines that you don’t mind cutting apart.

6th: Your color wheel quiz will be next Tuesday. You will be given a balnk color wheel and asked to label correctly, mix colors and paint correctly, and acheive good craftsmanship (neatness). Take practice color wheels home to study!

8th: We will ocntinue working on self-portraits this week. Bring magazines from home and photos of yourself to help.

Cultural Arts Night Update: We need more participation!

Attention:  McClure students & your families

You are invited to join us in celebrating Cultural Arts Night!

When:  Thursday Feb. 11, 2010 @ 7:00 PM

Where:  McClure Middle School

We need all families, students or groups of students who would like to present their country of origin, somewhere you have traveled to or a culture that you have studied to be a part of this great night!

 You can be as creative as you want to be!

 Cultural Arts Night will include:

  • Table presentations with information about your country, artifacts, power point presentations, a skit, native dance, native sport, food samples or anything about your country that you would enjoy sharing with everyone
  • Community outreach opportunities to support Must Ministries 
  • Interactive learning stations
  • Entertainment with our band & orchestra
  • Student art on display
  • An international fashion show
  • An international food contest & an international chocolate contest. (We need donations of international food & international chocolate.)

 We will be collecting donations of peanut butter & jelly for Must Ministries!

Cultural Arts Night is quickly approaching… it will be held on Febraury 11 at 7:00. Please see flyer below, and if your are interested in hosting a cultural table, bringing food etc., please contact PTSA. We would love your participation and attendance! Cultural Arts Family Flyer 2010

Everyone: Your first vocabulary quiz will be on Wednesday February 3. It will cover words from the first day of class through last Friday  (1/22). The study guide  may make it easier to study: vocab study guide 125Note! The words for each grade are different, so use the study guide for your grade level. If you need a printed copy and do not have a printer, please ask for one in class. The quiz will be fill-in-the-blank format, but will not be open notes, SO STUDY!

8th: For 8-1, your last day to paint alter-egos is Wednesday, and for 8-2 it is Thursday.

7th: 7-1, your last day to finish mandalas is Wednesday, and 7-2, your last day is Thursday. They will be due Friday, so take them home to finish if not finished in class. We will then paint our tiles before starting our next project.

6th: Your effigy vessels will be fired in the kiln tomorrow. We will finish sketching out our designs for teh amate bark paintings today, transferring to the amate paper with white chalk, and will begin our painting unit later this week.

7th Grade: We worked on mandalas today and you will continue working on them tomorrow with the substitute. Friday we will begin coloring or detailing mandalas so that they will be ready to hand for Cultural Arts Night on February 11. We will paint initial tiles next week.

8th: Today we have shortened class due to the writing test. We will work on Mr. Proportions. Tomorrow, you will be doing som ebasic drawings of animals with the substitute. The work will be for a grade so be sure to turn it in at the end of class.

6th Grade: Today you will be creating your community imaginative animals with the substitute. Please be sure to turn all work in at the end of class. Tomorrow effigy vessels will be due at the end of class.
