8th Grade Curriculum Update-Entrepreneurship
The 8th Grade Privates of the Computer Compound are currently learning the traits, skills and characteristics of successful entrepreneurs. They will soon learn the steps to becoming an entrepreneur and practice decision making skills of entrepreneurship through an online activity (www.lemonadestand.com). Later in the nine weeks, we will collaborate with Ms. King’s Technology class and evaluate students’ inventive business ideas.

How does earning and paying interest affect their financial future?
What is the difference of earning interest and paying interest?
How has the national deficit impacted our current economy?
What are some finanical services offered by credit unions and banks?
How are credit unions and banks similar? How are credit unions and banks different?
We will continue to learn the following:
How will a checking account help you to manage your money?
Why is it important to balance a check register?
Students will learn and apply these skills through practice, demonstrations, reviews, activities and projects.

6th Grade Curriculum Update-Keyboarding
The 6th Grade Privates have completed their pre-assessments (Keyboarding Pre-test and Typing Pre-test). Students have identified their strengths and weaknesses as it relates to their keyboarding skills. Students will develop and demonstrate proper keyboarding techniques with the use of the Typing Time software. Students will complete typing test on Tuesday and Thursday. Students are encouraged to practice keyboarding skills at home by clicking on the following link; Copies of test are found on the Typing Resource page of this blog.

Welcome!
Welcome Recruits to the “Computer Compound.” I hope you enjoyed your first day of basic training. I am looking forward to deploying activities that will “Train Your Brain for Higher Order Thinking.” My objective is to provide you with project-based instruction that introduces you to the principles of business in the 21st century while refreshing your keyboarding skills. In addition, I will implement the “Code of Conduct” that is set in place by my Chief Commanding Officer, S. Wing. It is also your responsibility to follow the Code of Conduct:

Take responsibility
Show respect
