Happy Thanksgiving

November 20, 2009 - No Responses

I hope everyone has a restful Thanksgiving break.  When we return to school, we will be working hard on improving our reading strategies that help us become better readers and help us understand what we read. Specifically we will practice using context clues, finding the main idea and details, and learning about cause and effect.  Grammar skills we will continue working on are identifying parts of speech: nouns, adjectives and verbs.   In math, we will continue to work on problem solving: identifying the key words that tell us to add or subtract and using a numberline.  We will be introduced to the strategy TIPS, which stands for:

T- Thought- Do I add or subtract?

I- Information- What numbers are in my story problem?

P- Plan- What is my number sentence to solve?

S- Solution- What is the answer to the question in the story problem?

Hello world!
