Today we practiced graphing inequalities and then we learned how to write inequalities for given graphs.  Here are the notes from today:
graphing inequalities and finding inequalities from graphs
Steps to writing inequalites from graphs:

Identify the y-intercept (if clearly located)
Identify the slope
Which side is shaded? (above is › and below is ‹)
Dashed or solid line? (solid is [...]

Today we started graphing inequalities.  Remember the following rules:

Plot the points like you would with an equation in slope-intercept form.
   > or <  is a dashed line
   ≥ or ≤ is a solid line
   > or ≥  is shaded above the line
< or ≤ is shaded below the line.
Check your shading by picking 2 [...]

Monday, January 26th

Today we reviewed how to graph equations and how to determine an equation from a graph.  Students were also given a graphic organizer on the different forms for equations (Standard, Slope-Intercept, & Point-Slope).  We will also have a short quiz tomorrow on these topics.
Check out the new links that will help you with equations → [...]

Friday, January 22nd

Today we practiced writing equations in slope-intercept form from a point and a slope.  We also looked at parallel lines and finding an equation of a line that is parallel to a given line and a point.
Homework: correct you quizzes on a seperate sheet of paper. These are due Monday for a grade!!!!

Today we started point-slope form.  Students took notes on this concept and we practiced it during class.  The students did well on the class work as we went over each problem.  Here are the notes from today:
 point-slope form 2010
Class work was pg 395 in the green worktext.
Homework: finish classwork and then do the worksheet [...]

Friday, January 15th

Today we reviewed slope and slope-intercept form.  Students will have a quiz on Tuesday over this topic.  They will need to know the following:
How to find the slope from two points, how to determine the slope of a line from a graph, the rate of change from a table, and what type of slope is [...]

Today we worked on Slope Intercept form.  Slope intercept form is: y=mx+b   where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.  Once you solve an equation for y, you need to make sure that the “x” term is listed before the constant to get the equation in slope-intercept form.  For example:  y = 2x [...]

Today we finished out task “Public Access”  and students found the slope associated with our stairs and ramps in the building.
Homework: On the worksheet, you need to solve each equation for “y” (in other words, get “y” by itself)

Tuesday, January 12th

Today we worked on finding slope by identifying the x and y intercepts.  Basically you set x to zero and solve for y, then  you set y to zero and solve for x.  This will give you the two intercepts (x and y).  From there you graph the line and find the slope by dividing [...]
