Today we worked with parallel and perpendicular lines. Parallel lines have the same slope and perpendicular lines have opposite reciprocal slopes. Here are the notes from today as well as the problems for classwork:
intro to parallel lines
Homework: finish classwork and do the worksheet (front and back)

Today we reviewed the material over Unit 5. Students will be given a re-test option on Friday during class. This is the only time I will give a re-test as this is a very important unit and it is a foundation for the material that we will cover later in 8th grade and beyond.
Students need to finish the homework from Tuesday night as several students did NOT do it. Students also need to finish the homework for today as well.

Today we did test corrections for the test they took last week. Students also had to turn in the shoe-size task for a grade. Students were given a study guide to finish tonight if they did not do so in class.
Here is the study guide: unit 5 post test study guide
Homework: Finish study guide.

Today students adopted an egg and had to ensure it’s safety while bungee jumping off of a cabinet. We used the math we learned last week: line of best fit. Students had to predict the exact amount of rubber bands needed to ensure a safe and thrilling jump for their egg. Unfortunately, several eggs had to receive medical attention, but they should all be back to their old selves within the next week or two
Homework: Please finish the shoe size/height task – it will be due tomorrow

Today we practiced graphing inequalities and then we learned how to write inequalities for given graphs. Here are the notes from today:
graphing inequalities and finding inequalities from graphs
Steps to writing inequalites from graphs:
- Identify the y-intercept (if clearly located)
- Identify the slope
- Which side is shaded? (above is › and below is ‹)
- Dashed or solid line? (solid is also equal to, dashed is not equal to)
- Plug the information into slope-intercept form.
- **If you do not have a clear y-intercept, you can use the slope and a point to find the equation by using the point-slope form and then solve for “Y”**
Homework: finish pg 44 red workbook if you did not do so in class. Do pg 197 on the worksheet I handed out in class.

Today we started graphing inequalities. Remember the following rules:
- Plot the points like you would with an equation in slope-intercept form.
- > or < is a dashed line
- ≥ or ≤ is a solid line
- > or ≥ is shaded above the line
- < or ≤ is shaded below the line.
- Check your shading by picking 2 test points (one on either side of the line) You shade the area where the point is a solution to the inequality.
Here are the notes from today: graphing inequalities 2010
Homework: Pg 407 all in the Worktext.

Today we reviewed how to graph equations and how to determine an equation from a graph. Students were also given a graphic organizer on the different forms for equations (Standard, Slope-Intercept, & Point-Slope). We will also have a short quiz tomorrow on these topics.
Check out the new links that will help you with equations → → →
Homework: Worksheet – due tomorrow for ACCURACY!!
