Board Game Due Date

Math game boards are due next Thursday, May 14. So far, those projects I’ve seen look great! Keep working, and ask me for help if you get stuck. I have some materials/supplies that you may find useful, so let me know how I can help you.

Checkwriting Project

Tomorrow will be the final day to complete this activity in class. Come prepared to tell/show me your ideas for your math game (due next Wednesday 5/13).

Math Board Game Project

The Math Board Game must be your own design demonstrating a math skill or concept being reinforced while playing the game. The game must have a name, rules and playing pieces. The number of players and age level of the players must be stated. Score cards, answer keys and calculator must be included if needed for the game. The game board must fit into a box not larger than a shoe box. (The board can be larger and then folded to fit.) For more details: math-board-game.

Friday, May 1

Independent classwork: Text page 840 and 841.

Homework: Start thinking about a Math board game you would design. You may imitate the rules of another game, but the layout must be your own, and you must show a Math concept. More details to follow. As I said, start looking at other games to see how you could change it for your own, or be completely original in your design. Do not start until you get the rubric so you’ll know what I’m looking for. For example, you must have rules of the game, game pieces, score board (if applicable), and the specified size of the board. We will be playing these game in class, so test you ideas on family members first!

Have a great week-end!
