After your warm up, DG 4 1-4, and announcements, we proceeded to play a quick reveiw game to refresh your memory on the five themes, continents, and oceans. Most classes finished, but we had a couple that did not. You will be allowed some time tomorrow to finish. You also handed in your mnemonic device, which was for a homework grade. I will take your device if you did not give it to me today, but that’s the deadline, tomorrow. We will start the Europe/Russia unit tomorrow with an Atlas Activity in partners, so be ready to go!!!
No homework.

After taking your DG 3 quiz, you were to complete your "As the World Turns" handout, which is a review of basic geography concepts. This copy is yours to write on and if you were absent see me for a fresh copy. I also assigned you a task of creating your own continent/oceans mnemonic device. We even listened to some continent songs that elementary schools use. I showed you some mnemonic devices on the screen, we mentioned, ROY G BIV, for colors of the rainbow and HOMES for the Great Lakes, Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior. You could write a song, a poem, a visual sentence, etc.
If you did not finish your device, it was to be completed at home and will be turned in tomorrow for a homework grade.

After your warm-up (daily geography 3), we went over the five themes notes. We had some small discussions about examples of each of the five themes. You asked some very good questions. Please make sure you review/study these notes because you never know when you might see a quiz or something! I will ask on Monday if anyone has some examples of the themes that he/she saw over the weekend. Have a great weekend, be safe, and don’t forget to review your notes.
Think, before you act!

Excellent you finished your group acitivity on a very good note. Your group was given the cartoon directory and you were discuss each cartoon and decide which theme(s) of geography was appropriate and why? The group was to turn in their work on one sheet on paper. After this, you were to listen to the mini lecture and take some notes on the five themes. To introduce the notes, we started with a solve the license plate puzzle, then proceeded to learn our five themes license plate, MHeLPR (movement, human environment interaction, location, place, and region). We will finish the notes on the themes tomorrow. Make sure you are reviewing your notes..hint, hint.
What a great day!!!!

First you took your Daily Geography Quiz. Then you chose your groups to complete the mission at hand. First, you had to select a name for your group (adjective, then animal); second, write in big block letters the theme you were assigned on a poster size paper; and third, everyone in your group must draw an example of your theme. That’s all we had time for today. Tomorrow we will finish with Part B. Remember…MOVEMENT, HUMAN ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION, LOCATION, PLACE, AND REGION.

Today you copied the last four questions to your warm-up (Daily Geography 2) so remember to study your eight questions tonight for your quiz tomorrow. After your warm up, you were to create your favorite theme and color it. Make sure you use large block letters for your theme, created five examples of that theme, and composed a small paragraph explaining why you picked that theme. I showed you my theme as an example. Most of you thought it was funny….Periods 2, 3, and 4 are to turn in the favorite theme activity and your "getting to know you" questions tomorrow when you walk in. DON’T FORGET TO STUDY FOR YOUR DAILY GEOGRAPHY QUIZ, WHICH IS TOMORROW. Most of you are working very well and I’m very impressed with you!

Monday, you were to work on the "Getting to Know You" questions 1-5 using the five themes worksheet after copying your daily geography 2 questions 1-4. If you finished the five themes questions, you were to start your favorite theme creation on the white paper. If you did not finish those questions, you will for homework. Tomorrow, you will work on your favorite theme and we will conduct our small group activity. Today was locker day so it was very exciting around the team area, let’s try to use the lockers a little quicker if you can…we are off to a another great week!
