After your warm up, DG 11 (quiz tomorrow, so study), we watched the most excellent newscasts from all classes. However, we didn’t finish all of them, so we’ll pick up where we left off tomorrow. Also, review sections 4 and 5 in your textbook, Imperial Russia and Soviet Union, for your quiz. You may use your mind web and chart on the quiz. Be careful tonight and review your materials for your quizzes and Science test tomorrow after "trick or treating". Don’t eat too much sugar…Happy Halloween!

Every student did an incredible job today with participation in our Olympic Day. From what I saw, your sportsmanship was excellent and your event effort was superb. I am very proud of each of you. Thank you for some awesome memories, I hope you had a great day, because it seemed like it. Thank you to Ms. Reinecke for proving to be a champion egg toss partner. Originally it was Mrs. Ryan, but she had a meeting to attend, so at last minute Ms. Reinecke said yes to my plea. I am thankful to our incredible tug of war team as well, way to go team! Tomorrow is academic bowl day, Thursday is olympic movie day, and Friday is archery and closing ceremonies. Remember you have a vocabulary quiz on Friday and a quiz over section 4 and 5 in your book, make sure you’ve read those two sections. You will be allowed to use your 4 column facts and your mind web for the quiz.

You had some assignments to work on today at your own pace. I explained the 4 column chart that was about the leadership of Russia (we’ll go over that on Monday or Tuesday), you had the timeline to work on, which is due tomorrow, you had your homework to work on, which is due on Monday, and you had vocabulary to work on. I went over the vocabulary that should be in your vocabulary section of your notebook, we’ve been adding to it gradually. You will have a matching quiz over all these words next week, please review them daily. Periods 3 and 4 will have the DG 9 quiz tomorrow, it was on the board! Below are links that we had today in class if you didn’t get them. Stay focused, we will move quickly from this point forward.

Today we worked on a bar graph exercise. You were in your groups and you were asked to come up with a fictional population for your country. Then I put all the populations of all the groups on the screen for you to create your population bar graph. Then, we went over how to create one and discussed any questions you had about the bar graph. Next, you were to work on your Imperial Russia (Section 4 of Chapter 2 p.54) timeline, check the powerpoint slide below. I explained how to do this and all questions were answered. We are moving quickly, so please write in your agenda the appropriate information. Homework was to read a short story called "The Pearl in the Egg" and answer the seven questions at the end. I think you will like this story because of its perspective.

I also had academic bowl tryouts for 6a in the form of powerpoint questions, the 10 students with the most correct answers will be asked to join the team. Great job to all students for making this team the best!

We had a short class period to work with, and will continue this week, so, be ready to get to business when you come into the room. Today, you worked on part two of the activity. In your group from Thursday, you and your countrymen had to come up with three areas or rooms to colonize here at school. I gave you all a school map and you had to indicate which three rooms you would colonize. Then, you had to supply a reason why you chose these rooms. We shared and now it’s time for battle. This is all a part of our "imperialism" discussion. We will finish it tomorrow. We will also take care of the olympic academic bowl competition tomorrow. Thanks for the effort! Great job all countries!
