After collecting your journal entry, Thanksgiving Break, we proceeded to complete some more notes on Eastern European countries and their cultures. I also told you to keep track of your answers and bring them tomorrow, because we will go over the correct information tomorrow. Then, I will provide you with the questions so that you may study these questions for the test on Wednesday or Thursday of next week over section 1 (culture of Western Europe) and section 2 (culture of Eastern Europe), chapter 3. After our notes today, you had time to work on your optional outline or organizer for these 2 sections that can be used as a reference on the chapter quiz, which is very soon, like Friday. Tomorrow, we will go over the correct answers to the questions in our notes, learn a little Russian and German, and if there is time, work on your outline or organizer.

After turning in homework, p. 87 questions 1-5, we turned our attention the notes on Eastern Europe. You had to answer 5 fill in the blanks on each of the countries talked about today. This was practice for tomorrow’s session when you will have to answer questions for a grade. We are practicing listening skills. Below is a link to the notes we went over today, and I do plan on providing a hard copy to each student of all notes taken on Eastern Europe. I also announced there will be a quiz on section 1 and 2 very soon, probably Friday. You should be working on your outline or organizer for section 1 and 2 that you may use as a reference for your quiz. Your chapter 3 test is going to be next week, Tuesday or Wednesday.

You were to finish your cultural components chart for the video. Some of you answered the bonus questions on the back of your chart and the maximum amount you could earn was 1 point for each question answered (10 questions possible, you pick up to 5 for a total of 5 points). Notice the traditions and customs of your family as you gather for break. There is no homework. Please enjoy the break, be safe and get your rest, and most of all, enjoy your family time. Progress reports go home when you return.

Today was Renaissance day and we had an early release schedule to follow, so we went to the Maclab to complete any research on your country. Then, we went to the theatre, carpeted gym, and the wood gym to take part in Renaissance. Congratulations to all the winners of prizes in “Let’s Make A Renaissance Deal” (where Connie Contrast and Carl Compare were hosting) and congratulations to the students who participated in the obstacle course relay. 6A won the event and really looked like they were having fun. Thank you students for excellent behavior and we hope to see all 6A students at the next Renaissance celebration. A great week was completed with a great event. Make sure you complete your country brochure which is due on Monday. I look forward to seeing these masterpieces! Have a great weekend and get ready for a super Thanksgiving break next week.
