Economics term quiz and activity
Today after a time zone warm up (in the pdf link below), you reviewed your terms briefly, then took the quiz. Afterwards, you worked on your story line with your partner or yourself, where you have to use all the terms in correct context. This is due Monday, except for 3rd period which it’s due on Tuesday. I gave answers to lesson 2 to some classes but not all.
I used my camera purchase to illustrate some of the concepts we’ve discussed, supply and demand and free enterprise.
The goal is to have all the answers to Lesson 1 through Lesson 5, study these handouts and either take a quiz, turn them in for a class work grade, or use them as a reference for your project. I’ll let you know, just get the correct answers and listen in class.

After you DG 14 quiz, we discussed some more economic terms and how they relate to you, with a big focus on opportunity costs. You were to finish defining the terms from yesterday’s list and review them tonight. We went over the powerpoint from yesterday’s blog as well. Be prepared for a quiz over these terms and concepts on Friday.
After you copied the rest of your DG 14 warm up questions, we had an excellent day learning about some terms used when talking about economics. We had a productive discussion about the terms and how to use them. You took notes from a powerpoint and we tried to pull in some real life examples, like some retail stores in our area providing goods and some services. We used the playstation 3 example of supply and demand and I also mentioned as an example a pair of shoes or ballet shoes.
If you made below a 73 on your progress report, you must have it signed and returned to me by THURSDAY of this week, or sit silent lunch until I get it. Thank you parents for signing. Most students with low grades are not turning in work and are not listening to when assignments are due/date turned in. Please email me with questions and concerns.
After copying your DG 14 warm up questions, you were allowed to complete any work from Tuesday before the break. I collected the journal entries and you worked on a third economics handout, Lesson 3, if you finished Lesson 1 and 2, and your 10 terms from R24-R35 in your book. Check Monday’s blog from the 19th if you’re confused. We also discussed "After Thanksgiving Day Sale" and how it relates to economics. Most classes watched a video clip titled "Big Box Mart" and we talked about that.
I hope everybody has an awesome day today! Students make sure you are aware of economical topics and issues going on all around you. Please include these in your journal entry, probably after tomorrow. Also, check your local paper for information that might help you and maybe watch the news tomorrow. Be thinking about supply and demand, consumption, and distribution. Check the back of your book for definitions, R24-R35. Enjoy the time with your family and friends, and cherish the memories that you create.
Today we set the stage for your mini unit of economics, by talking about the After Thanksgiving Day Sale and supply/demand. After your DG 13 quiz, you were handed an Eastern Europe map and study guide. I asked you to fill in as many countries as possible using the textbook, page A28, the rest we’ll have to fill in together. Try using the pdf file below to help you label your map.
GET PLENTY OF REST AND PLENTY OF FOOD AND FAMILY!!
The search was on for students who achieved Renaissance today as it was our first sixth grade celebration. 6A students did a great job in all aspects of the day. Students will have to work very hard achieve next Renaissance, but it will be here before you know it.
Today after copying your DG 13 warm up questions, you took part in a simulation. You experienced a little bit of trench warfare in a safe classroom environment, then we reflected on how this related to World War I, discussed symbolism, feelings and emotions, and some technology involved in the war. After that I wanted you to answer the question that went along with the video clip, "How do imperialism, colonialism, nationalism, and militarism contribute to World War I?"
Twas a dark day for Europe on June 28, 1914 as World War I began. Today, you read silently pp. 333-336 and wrote down five historical points that you thought were most important to the topic of World War I, then you were to discuss them with your group and see if there were any commonalities or if other students had the same point. If you had extra time while waiting on your group, you were to fill in p. 37 and 38 of your workbook. I did show a couple slides of the World War I notes which we see tomorrow.
