Today, you took notes on Communism and NATO, we discussed it, then we watched video clip, summarizing WW II and explaining how the Cold War developed. Below you will find the link.
Download Communism.ppt
While watching the video clip on the Cold War, you were to generate 10 historical facts (5 facts for 4th period because of presentations) that are worth 10 points each. I asked you to put this on the front and the Santa/5Themes on the back, so you turn in one sheet of paper.
I also gave you a small assignment that will count as a HOMEWORK grade, due tomorrow, "Relate Santa Claus (could substitute something else if you do not celebrate this) with the Five Themes of Geography." Worth 50 points.
HOMEWORK- finish 5 Themes assignment.
HOMEROOM- Thank you for all of your listening, and getting your agenda signed in 2007, I threw you a small celebration as a "thank you" today. Let’s keep up the good work for 2008!

Today we talked about the Soviet Union. After handing in your JOURNAL entries on "Freedom", you should have taken some notes, especially answering the key questions:
- What was the Iron Curtain?
- What is communism?
- Who was Joseph Stalin?
- What was the Cold War?
- What does USSR stand for?

Below you will find the powerpoint I went over and gave examples of the material in class, told some stories and we even played some Russian music. 1st period read in class today as a group, the other classes did not. We watched the Berlin Wall clip in 2nd period, and in 3rd we watched a few minutes of the Soviet Union clip.

Today we took the test on World War I and World War II, you had 5 minutes to review before the test, then we watched a short video clip (9 minutes or so) of the Berlin Wall and discussed why it was built. Then I talked about the journal entry topic "Freedom" which you worked on after your test. So, I was hoping that while the video clip was playing it made you think about your freedom, enough to help you with your journal entry topic. http://www.msnbc.com/news/wld/graphics/berlinwall_dw.htm

Today we heard from some more excellent business ideas. We had some presentations, then we took a break to review the Eastern European countries and capitals, and heard some more presentations. We’ll finish presenting on Wednesday.
I asked you to review each night with sheppardsoftware.com, please do so again tonight in preparation for tomorrow. I told you how the test would look tomorrow, using numbers on the countries you tell me what the countries are from the word bank, then on the flip side, tell me the capital of each country. You may write on your answer sheet, because that is what I’m grading.
Tomorrow, you will review for 5 minutes, then take the test, then fill in your 5 W’s chart with World War I and World War II material, using the book pp. 333-338.
I will be out tomorrow so be prepared to be very productive and do well on your test. Mrs. Moore will be here and she is excellent. Thanks for visiting Mrs. Moore!
