Today students took the DH 4 quiz, then went ahead and focused on the chapter 11 test, got started and finished. After the test, students were to copy (in the agenda or on a sheet of paper) the journal entry/reflection from the screen, since the blogs might be accessible over break. The journal is due on Monday when we return.

Happy Thanksgiving for those who celebrate it! We have a lot to be thankful for!
I’m thankful for many things, but these stand out in my mind and affect my life daily; my family, my students, my colleagues, and my friends. I am very grateful and thankful to be teaching at McClure surrounded by awesome teachers and incredible students.

Today students copied DH 4, quiz tomorrow, then got right into review mode. Mr. Ranson went over the chart from page 300 and pp. 96-97 in the RSG (Reading Study Guide) in class to make sure students had the correct answers. I’m having difficulty putting these on the blog, so I hope you copied what you needed in class. Then students participated in Chapter 11 Jeopardy which should be below, thanks Mr. Ranson for creating it, and also students played Who Am I: Risky Business (except for 1st period). Please make sure you’ve read chapter 11, and review the RSG pages, the chart, and the review guide to get prepared for tomorrow. Don’t just rely on the Jeopardy game as a review resource, use the other resources!

Today students after copying the DG 10 questions and going over them (quiz Monday), took part in a competitive team activity, whereby they had to sit in groups of five and create a country name and flag. Then, set forth to colonize the school by choosing which room they would take over, if another country had the same, there was a little battle (in the form of academic warm up questions) to see which country would lay claim to that room. It was pretty awesome. I collected 3rd period’s school maps/tables, and will collect the rest on Monday.

Thank you Mr. Ranson for leading our lesson today. We will finish that up on Monday, and fourth period will start it then.

Today students constructed their maps for tomorrow’s competition. We are talking about "imperialism" and its effects on the world. Students had to trace the school map from their agenda onto a provided white piece of copy paper and draw a grid system over the top of it. I went over all the instructions in class with a demonstration on my whiteboard of how to do the grid system and how each paper should look. Then students were instructed to draw a table on the back of the school map and fill it in with appropriate information. Check the slides below.

What does this flag have to do with "imperialism"?

Tomorrow, we will complete our activity, hopefully with a little competition. You must have your map and grid system complete to join our competition.
HOMEWORK- finish the assignment (school map and grid system on the front, and the table on the back) and have it ready for tomorrow.
