Today students finished copying the DG 15 warm up, then turned in the Latin America brochure, then got started and turned in "The Ultimate Burrito" map skills handout, which we will go over on Monday.
Afterwards, students were to read Section 1 pp. 153-160 and be thinking about some questions, which are in the DG 15 powerpoint.
Keep practicing with countries and capitals of Latin America, and you will be ready for the test on Friday of next week.

Today students started DG 15, then got started right away on the Latin America brochure. Many students were close to being finished altogether as I walked around. For some students, class time was not used wisely, so much of it will be done at home. The brochures are due when you walk in tomorrow.
We will also figure out "The Ultimate Burrito" tomorrow.
HOMEWORK- finish brochure and have it ready to turn in

Today students took the DH 6 quiz, then watched a video clip on the physical geography of Latin America (4 min.) and afterwards were to work on brochures (10-20 min.). Many students are in good shape as far as brochure completion.
TIME TABLE: Some students need to work at home and be finished with writing facts by tonight, so they can come in tomorrow and put all the facts inside the brochure, then tomorrow evening at home, the outside of the brochure can be completed.
HOMEWORK- work on brochure, get all facts finished, so you can write the facts on the inside of the brochure tomorrow. PRACTICE COUNTRIES AND CAPITALS OF LATIN AMERICA (sheppardsoftware.com)

Today I postponed the DH 6 quiz, so that students might have extra time to get all their facts done today and even start designing their brochures. You find all the facts in Chapter 6 around p. 160. The checklist and rubric is attached to FRIDAY'S BLOG, if you need it, I had it up on the screen today as well.
Tomorrow, the DH 6 quiz and then some more from Chapter 6, and continue on brochure.
HOMEWORK- Review DH 6; is up to each student, if you need to work on your brochure, then do so, some of you need to because you did not use your time wisely in class. Students should be done with the research part and into the transferring phase (taking facts and writing them in the appropriate areas on the brochure).
BROCHURE IS DUE ON FRIDAY!!!

Today students started the DH6 questions, then I went over the checklist/rubric for the Latin America brochure. Students had time to work on gathering their facts from the textbook, p. 160-166 of Chapter 6, and some started on the format of the brochure. I told students today was the day for gathering the facts, because next week is for designing and creating the brochure, as well as other items on the "to-do" list. DUE DATE: Friday Jan. 30

Today students listened to Mrs. Blank as she prepared a wonderful lesson about "What you are doing now and how to improve your skills and your grades." I asked students to be to able to answer "How can this lesson help you?"
Next week is conference week, and she was going over how to better your skills. She had a questionairre and it should have made you think about how you do your school business. She also had a bingo activity that was great.
Thank you Mrs. Blank
HOMEWORK- none, bring colored pencils tomorrow
