Mr. Hausdorf
There was some energy felt today as students came to school to end a remarkable sixth grade year, but there was also a little apprehension and sorrow felt as well, just a little. Yearbooks were signed and then we all went outside for the carnival.
Thank you so much students and parents for a fantastic year! I didn’t get a chance to have my homeroom helpers on video, so I will try to incorporate them in the blog at the beginning of next year, if they would like.
I hope everyone has a very safe summer and really thinks about how improvements can be made for next year. Enjoy friends and family, and we’ll see ya’ next year, don’t be afraid to come and say hello!

Today students took the DG 22a quiz, then watched a very impressive video on the “Panama Canal”. While watching each student was to write five facts and then answer the answer question, “What if the Panama Canal did not exist, what would the world be like?” This was a classwork grade, worth 10 points.
HOMEWORK- take the survey (check yesterday’s blog)
You do not need to bring your binder tomorrow for Social Studies.

Today students copied the DG 22a, then I passed back a journal entry from August 14th about setting goals for the upcoming sixth grade year, students were to read their own journal entries and answer the prompt, “Have You Achieved Your Goals?”, if you did how did you achieve them, and if you didn’t, why not? The new journal must be a half a page in length. Then I went over the survey from the beginning of the year, and how my questions looked and we discussed them and their relevance, then it was the students turn to create 10 survey type questions for the new 6th graders. Each question is worth a point, and this will be considered a homework grade, due tomorrow, along with the journal entry.
HOMEWORK- finish the 10 survey questions

Today students worked on an activity that involved using map skills to solve some clues for various places in Africa and Asia. The handout has one side worth 16 points and the other side is worth 12 points. The point value is based on correct answers only. Students were allowed to work with partners or discuss as a four-top. These clues were fairly challenging and encouraged thinking skills and problem solving. They are due tomorrow.
Tomorrow, students will complete the Africa/Asia Map Skills assignment and complete another one called Traveling Teens (worth 32 points, due at the end of class tomorrow). This a creative assignment designed to promote writing, planning, and incorporate geographical skills. Every student will get a copy to write on tomorrow.

Today students copied the rest of DG 21a, dg-21a, the quiz is tomorrow. Then, students worked on their visual representations which are due tomorrow. The whole point of these representations was to review for the chapter 25 test, students had the opportunity to read yesterday, and we’ve been discussing the material on and off all along. The dg 21 warm up also had some review material. Graded material was passed back today as well, except 4th period.
GREAT RESOURCES: RSG and Workbook, review the chapter 25 material
Tomorrow, DG 21a quiz, visual representations are presented, and the chapter test.
HOMEWORK- review DG 21a, look over your content material, could even use RSG/Workbook to review.
