Austrialia Packet; Warm Up Quiz Taken

Today students worked on a Physical Australia Packet, labeling maps and completing a word search. This is the study resource, so please keep it safe and make sure it’s finished by Monday, may be for a Homework grade.

You are expected to become an Expert on Australian physical features!

Oceania Webquest

What is this special rock called?

Today students copied ten questions then listened to the video clip (10 minutes) and answered them. Our focus was on the physical aspects of Australia. Then after the video clip, students were to read a passage on Australia and Oceania from the Coach Book CRCT Review, and answer ten questions.

Warm Up Quiz Tomorrow; AVID Presentation; Examine Australia Physical Features

Today students copied the rest of the warm up questions, then tests were returned and we went over the correct answers (if time was allowed), lastly, we heard from Mrs. Bowles about AVID. A tremendous program to help students become organized and more focused about academic efforts.

Pre-Test Latin America; Warm-Up Australia; Language

Today students copied the warm up questions about Australia, then took the pre-test for Latin America (after Australia), and created 10 sentences using Australian words common to their vocabulary, as an introduction to our unit.

Review Day; Warm Up Quiz

Today students reviewed in stations. We had folders at each station with content material that will be on the test. We will go over the correct answers right before the test tomorrow. The warm up quiz was given in all classes except 2nd period, your quiz is tomorrow. I briefly went over the study guide from the yesterday’s blog and will attach a newer word document below. Please review vocabulary tonight and make sure you’ve read the chapter and look over your warm up questions.

Today students completed the warm up questions, Quiz tomorrow, then got started with our review material. There were several handouts in the middle of the 4 top desk formations, including  Vocabulary Practice, Map Skills, and  Culture True/False. Students were asked to complete these handouts using textbooks, discussion, and any notes. One of these assignments will be for a grade. So, out of those three assignments, I am choosing one to grade. We will go over alot of material tomorrow.

Warm Up; Canada’s Economy; Turn In Journal and Workbook p.13

WHAT EFFECT DO YOU THINK THE OLYMPICS HAS HAD ON CANADA’S ECONOMY?

Today students started a new set of warm up questions focusing on Canada, then turned in the journal entry (Province picked and why?) and p. 13 from the workbook. We really focused on section 3 from chapter 5 “Canada’s Economy” with some reading and activities to reinforce the content.

We also showed the winter olympic medal count to promote a discussion, how does geography affect the medal count? BONUS: Create 10 math word problems with answers on a sheet of notebook paper from the medal count chart and turn in tomorrow, receive up to 5 points on lowest quiz grade.

Chapter 5 test is on Friday

HOMEWORK- review notes and vocabulary from chapter 5, make sure you’ve read sections 3 and 4 by tomorrow

Snow? And Canada…Cool! Chapter 5 TEST FRIDAY

On Friday, we had a very interesting day. There was an adjusted schedule due to the snow. We did not really have a 4th period.

After going over the warm up questions, I assigned the journal entry, which is due on Tuesday. We took notes, really just went over a graphic organizer on Canada’s government structure and the United States government as well. Don’t forget p. 13 from the Workbook is also due on Tuesday. I encourage you to review your notes each evening. UPDATE: TEST On FRIDAY

JOURNAL TOPIC: Write about your favorite province. Pick one province, what do you find most interesting, why would you move there, tell me all about how you would live …etc.
