SONGS; Handed In 15 Questions; Warm Up Discussion; Organize Features; Video Clip

What feature is this, it was in today’s video clip?

Today students read and volunteered to answer the warm up questions, which led to discussion about test taking strategies and Latin American content. Then, students handed in their 15 Questions about the physical geography of Latin America. Students then had to choose 10 physical features and prioritize them by impact on life in Latin America, with number 1 having the most impact on life and 10, the least. Then, students have to supply a reason how does this feature impact life, this is to be finished for homework, it is a homework grade. We also reviewed political and physical Latin America.

•Rank the 10 features you think have the most impact on life in Latin America (1=most, 10=least) •For those 10, write a reason as to how it might impact life. –For example- 1. Mississippi River: it brings imports and exports up/down the center part of the U.S.

Go Over Study Guide; Collected Thumbs Up/Down Assignment

Today students were given an Australia Study Guide, then they were to read the questions/statements and put them into the appropriate categories, History, Economics, Government, and Geography. After they were finished, we went over the correct answers and students were encouraged to underline or highlight key/clue words in each question to provide assitance to memory. Also, below is a list of economic terms that will be on the test tomorrow. Make sure you have an idea of what they mean and how to apply them to situations. We went over one question from the test as a sample of what the questions will be like. They are more applying what you know to a situation or scenario, rather than recall based questions.

Important Economic Terms:

  • tariff
  • GDP (gross domestic product)
  • human capital (human resource)
  • import
  • entrepreneur
  • currency
  • natural resource
  • mixed economy
  • capital resource

I also said there is going to be a Journal entry (due at the end of class tomorrow) after the test tomorrow. The topic:

HOMEWORK- review the following resources for the test tomorrow

  1. History Notes
  2. The Economic Vocabulary Review Guide
  3. Austalia Study Guide
